In his interview after a fantastic round, one of the last answers that Jordan Spieth gave summed up his day perfectly: “It’s been a while.” Fans and PGA DFS gamers have been waiting a long time for this. Everyone loves a comeback story, and this one is about to get as real as it gets. I believe Spieth has returned. I’ll give some insight on that, along with the best of the rest of our Round 4 PGA DFS picks for the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
PGA DFS Picks: Waste Management Phoenix Open Round 4
Previous Round Recap
Let’s start off with Spieth’s irons. They have been trending in the right direction for the last few starts and for most of this week as well. Today he got it all back. Let’s tell this story visually, in three parts.
Part 1: The incredibly lucky bounce on No. 6 …
One of Spieth’s trademarks is his ability to catch ridiculously good breaks and then take advantage of them like Tiger Woods.
Getting it done from everywhere.

Part 2: In trouble greenside –make birdie …
Another trademark of his game is his craftiness, not just on the green but around the green as well.

Part 3: The bounces are going his way …
If you want to know more about this subject, check out Spieth’s most recent podcast with No Laying Up. He speaks directly about this. Sometimes the bounces don’t go your way, sometimes they do. He has seen the extremes of both over his seven-year PGA Tour Career, but the last few years it has sadly been going the wrong way. The fact that Spieth is making 30-footers and getting the bounces, Spieth is back and the golf world is a better place with him in it.

He may not win tomorrow, Xander Schauffele may outplay him, or Justin Thomas may steal it from him, but what we are seeing shouldn’t be ignored.
The Best of the Rest — PGA DFS Picks & Round 3 Recap
Beyond Spieth’s amazing 61 and Schauffele’s continued form, there were a few other good rounds out there on Saturday. Scottie Scheffler has been able to bounce back, even with his big numbers this week, sitting just 3 back coming into the final round. Making a case for the second-best story of the week is K.H. Lee, who propelled himself up the board after a chip-in eagle on 17, the only eagle of the day on that hole.

General Strategy and Farmers Insurance PGA DFS Picks
Before you make lineups, make sure you know that finishing points are awarded to players for the final round. Lastly, I’ll be focusing on golfers that have been able to find their approach game in at least two rounds for my Round 4 picks.
Top 10
Schauffele and Spieth starting the day 4 strokes clear of the field is likely to push their ownership into the nosebleed levels. That is especially true for Spieth given his $7,600 tag. Outside of that pair, there are a few values like Lee, Steve Stricker, James Hahn and Louis Oosthuizen, who I expect to be one of the highest-owned golfers on the slate outside of Spieth. I think my ownership lean would be toward Scheffler given his price at $10,000; I think gamers would rather pay the $10,200 for Justin Thomas to pair up with Spieth and Schauffele. That’s what I’ll be doing, and I’ll try to pick the perfect three golfers outside of the current top 10 to pair with them.
PGA DFS Pick Outside the Top 10
Wyndham Clark ($7,600)
Clark begins the day pretty far down the leaderboard to be priced at $7,600, but there should still be some upside. He had a pair of his own 30-foot bombs on the greens today, and he’s gained with his irons in all three rounds. Sunday is the day to earn a paycheck, and if he can turn that driver up a dial and gain strokes off the tee in Round 4, I think a low one is in the cards. I want a piece of that, especially if he’s going to be low owned because of his price.
Sneaky PGA DFS Pick for Round 4
Andrew Putnam ($6,400)
Talk about coming out of nowhere, but sometimes that’s what happens with these pros miss so many cuts in a row. Something finally clicked for Putnam, and the streak was broken with a bang. He has heavily relied on his short game through the first three rounds, so buyer beware here. If that doesn’t keep up for another round, this could be a freefall down the board. But his price and in-form short game have me intrigued for Round 4.
DraftKings and FanDuel Farmers Insurance Open Lineup Fill-Ins
- Matthew NeSmith ($7,300)
- Harold Varner ($6,900)
- Byeong Hun An ($7,100)
- Carlos Ortiz ($8,700)
