Against the Grain: Contrarian Fantasy Golf Picks for The RBC Heritage on DraftKings & FanDuel | 4/13

There aren’t any $1 million prize pools this weekend for PGA DFS fantasy golf contests, but there is still plenty of money to be won. This article will help you look for leverage against the field and pinpoint pivot options to help you win the $200,000 first-place prize on DraftKings this week. Let’s dive into some low-owned against-the-grain plays for this week’s RBC Heritage, and also take a look at some of the highest-owned projected golfers. Fantasy Golf Picks for The RBC Heritage

PGA DFS Picks: $9,000 and Above

  • 13 Golfers
  • Total ownership of around 190%

For the second straight week, Collin Morikawa is one of the few golfers above $8,000 with ownership projected at less than 10%. Joining him is Patrick Cantlay, who looked lost at times last week. Dustin Johnson, the highest-priced golfer by a hefty margin, is not the favorite in the event at different sports books. In addition, he doesn’t even have the highest-projected point total this week, coming in at 79.1. To see the full set of projections, click here.

Cameron Smith has missed the cut in each of the last two events here at Harbour Town. Prior to that, though, he made the cut in three straight appearances. Smith did win on a similar type of a track at The Sony Open last year, so it wouldn’t be out of the realm to see him compete. He will be less than 10% owned this week as well.

The next golfer that will even come close to the 10%-owned mark is Sungjae Im, who has been awful in his first two trips to Hilton Head. He is also coming off a total dud last week, shooting 13over. The seven other golfers in this range are Webb Simpson, Daniel Berger, Will Zalatoris, Tyrrell Hatton, Corey Conners, Matthew Fitzpatrick and Paul Casey. All of those guys are trending towards the 20% mark. Obviously, they cannot all be played when looking to get leverage on the higher-priced golfers, so nailing these eight golfers could prove to be pivotal this week.

Morikawa (projected for 71 points) sets up as the safest against-the-grain play given his form is the best among the top three. Throwing Smith (projected at 70.8 points) into the equation, though, may change it a bit. I would still lean Morikawa over Smith in a one-off.

PGA DFS Picks: Nos. 11-32 Priced Golfers ($8,900-$7,500)

  • 16 golfers
  • Total ownership 190%

Dipping down the board a bit, four golfers are getting a ton of attention, totaling over 100% combined projected ownership: Abraham Ancer, Brian Harman, Si Woo Kim and Chris Kirk. All of them are playing well right now, and Kim has some stellar course history, having come in second a few years back. Both Charley Hoffman and Russell Henley are getting a lot of love this week given that they are both enjoying good seasons up to this point and are projected north of 15%. Also sliding into that bucket of over 15% owned his week will be Harris English and Kevin Na, both enjoying good stretches of golf of late.

These are five golfers, all projected over 10% but not above 15%: Sergio Garcia, Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Ian Poulter, Kevin Kisner and Billy Horschel. That leaves seven golfers projected to be under 10% owned this week:

  • Tommy Fleetwood
  • Matt Kuchar
  • Matt Wallace
  • Branden Grace
  • Lee Westwood
  • Robert MacIntyre
  • Sebastian Munoz.

Top Against the Grain Fantasy Golf Picks

The least is known about Robert MacIntyre, as Awesemo’s projections have him at 52.9 points, one of the lowest in this price range. This can happen at times with European Tour players that don’t play a lot here in the states. He does, however, have talent and low ownership this week.

PGA DFS Picks: The Rest ($7,400 and Below)

  • 100+ golfers
  • Total ownership 220%

Over 100 golfers are still left to choose from this week, and only three are projected around 10%: Emiliano Grillo, Kevin Streelman and Adam Hadwin. Looking deeper, there are not that many golfers projected to be owned around 5 to 10% this week. Some of them include:

  • Brendon Todd
  • Lucas Glover
  • Doug Ghim
  • Matthew NeSmith
  • Stewart Cink
  • Patton Kizzire
  • Tom Hoge
