With 132 players in the field this week, there will be plenty of opportunities to find golfers that not a lot of gamers know about and create the edge necessary to score big this week at the Farmers Insurance Open.
Let’s start by going over the top 10 projected golfers on the slate. Check out the entire field’s PGA DFS ownership projections before building fantasy golf lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel.

PGA DFS Favorites: $9,000 and Above
- 15 golfers
Typically there are about 10 golfers priced at or over $9,000 in a given field, and that is what there has been all three weeks leading up to the Farmers. But the strongest field of the year bumps that number up to 15, as many quality names have made the trip out to San Diego. That inevitably leads to spread-out ownership, with none of the 15 golfers projected over 20%. Jon Rahm’s dominance here and the public’s love affair with Xander Schauffele push them towards that 20% number, and in single-entry events, they could get there. Sam Burns’ price continues to rise, and it looks like ownership will follow, as he Sungjae Im, Tony Finau, Daniel Berger, Justin Thomas and Will Zalatoris are all trending towards 15%.
That leaves seven golfers, with two of them firmly trending below 10%. But the other six are trending a little higher than that, between 10% and 15%:
- Dustin Johnson
- Hideki Matsuyama
- Bryson DeChambeau
- Scottie Scheffler
- Marc Leishman
Top Contrarian Fantasy Golf Picks
The two golfers trending below 10% owned this week are familiar names: Jordan Spieth and Brooks Koepka. They are combined 4-for-9 in made cuts here with no top-10s, so it is no mystery why they are trending towards the lowest owned on the slate.
PGA DFS Mid-Range ($8,900-$7,500)
- 21 golfers
With stronger pricing and a few more golfers up top, this section gets fewer players this week. It does have a few high-owned golfers, and one that could be as high as 20%: Lanto Griffin. With three top-10s early on in the season, including a third-place finish last week, Griffin comes into the week riding high on confidence. His salary does not match the form yet, and now he could be the most owed on the slate. A few others should get over 10% but likely not over 15%:
- Aaron Wise
- Tom Hoge
- Patrick Reed
- Luke List
- Cameron Tringale
- Keegan Bradley
- Si Woo Kim
- Talor Gooch
- Corey Conners
- Maverick McNealy
- Jason Day
- Justin Rose
With those 11 plus Griffin, 12 of the 21 golfers in this section have projected ownership of more than 10%. Among them, Corey Conners has the highest projected points total, with 67.1. To see the full field, click here.
With nine golfers remaining, all of them could be considered contrarian picks, and none of them have projected ownership over 10%. Here are the top three projected golfers from those nine for the slate:
- Billy Horschel (projected for 62.0 points)
- Joaquin Niemann (projected for 60.2 points)
- Max Homa (projected for 60.1 points)
Top Contrarian Fantasy Golf Picks
Christiaan Bezuidenhout is one of the golfers not listed that has made each of the last two cuts and scored well in each of them. Right now he is projected for just 3.9% ownership and is trending to be the most contrarian pick of the slate. Also not listed are Alex Noren and Mackenzie Hughes, both of whom have played well at Torrey Pines before.
PGA DFS Value Plays ($7,400 and Below)
- 100+ golfers
With so much attention going to the 36 golfers already talked about, not one golfer priced below $7,500 this week will be over 10% owned. That sets up well for gamers that like a golfer in this range, as a large allocation will not be necessary to get leverage on said golfer. Below are a few golfers that are projected to be at least 5% owned this week:
- Brandt Snedeker
- Matt Jones
- Jhonattan Vegas
- Charley Hoffman
- Keith Mitchell
- Doug Ghim
- Hudson Swafford
- Patton Kizzire
- Vincent Whaley
- Emiliano Grillo
However, none of these golfers have the highest projected point total for the week among golfers priced under $7,500. That award goes to Cameron Davis, who is projected for 61.3 points this week. Gary Woodland is also popping up on the Projection vs. Value vs. Projected Ownership chart, with the third-highest projected point total of golfers in this price range.
