The Wells Fargo Championship is underway. A wet and soggy round two made the course play exceptionally long and challenging,  as the scoring average was north of  72.25 or better than 2.25 over par. Jason Day would continue his re-emergence as he shot a three-under 67 on the day, backing up his seven-under 63 on day one. He leads by three over Max Homa heading into the weekend, as he’ll look to get himself back into focus in the world of golf. This article will cover some stats from round two and a few PGA DFS Picks for Round 3.

PGA DFS Golf Picks Today: Wells Fargo Championship Round 3

Round 2 Recap

Morning Wave

Homa and Day were paired together for the first two rounds and will be again for the third round as well, turning in two of the best scores of the day. Luke List, who started his day by hitting it in the water on his first hole, would catch fire and shoot a 66 as well. Chad Ramey would also bounce back from the worst putting performance of his short career last week at the Mexico Open and also fired a four-under 66 on day 2.

Other solid rounds were turned in by Kurt Kitayama and James Hahn.

Afternoon Wave

With so much rain falling all morning, most would have thought that it would let up in the afternoon. But it didn’t, continuing to rain all day, but at times did stop making scoring a bit easier. For a time, it also looked like the cut would move to +1, even late in the day making a push, as it would get to t66, but ultimately, would fall short of going to that number. Tyrrell Hatton would make the biggest move on the day, birding his first hole and playing well the rest, as his five birdies and one bogey performance moved him from a tie for 80th in the event to the top 10 after the round. Brian Harman would also continue his strong performance at this event, winning it a few years ago at Eagle Point, as he fired a four-under 66 to tie the second-best round of the day.  The best of the day would go to Keegan Bradley who shot a five-under 66 to move up 73 spots on the leaderboard and enter the weekend in the top 10.

Other strong performances in the afternoon wave came from  Abraham Ancer, Matt Fitzpatrick and Ryan Armour.

Best PGA DFS Picks Today for the Wells Fargo Championship DraftKings Showdown

With such a tight leaderboard heading into the weekend, it sets up nicely for those that just slipped thru the cutline, as they are just four shots out of the top 10 to start the weekend. That should open up the player pool for the third-round slate.

Tail Awesemo's Sports Betting Picks Today!

Rory McIlroy ($10,600)

Rory being the bigger name, likely still garners plenty of interest for the round 3 slate, but, presumably, he’ll go out early on in the day and can use that to move up the leaderboard before some even wake up. But, if you are looking for a lower owned play, Corey Conners ($10,200) and Russell Henley ($10,000) who both also squeaked thru the cut line this week, will likely be a lot less owned than Rory. For Henley, his off the tee is working quite well this week, typically his sore spot, while Conners has struggled with his irons, and McIlroy struggled with his driver. Each of them is very good in that respective statistic normally, so they could make for a good bounce-back on Saturday.

Ty Hatton ($9,000)

Hatton had it going nicely in round one, but, stumbled on his way in and finished at even par. But his form outside of Augusta National has been on fire for the last few months and that continued today here in round two. It gets him into the top 10 of the event and within six shots of the lead, searching for his first victory of the season.

Martin Laird ($7,000)

An astonishing 96.4% of his fairways hit in regulation thru two rounds, as Larid has it going off the tee thru two rounds. He’s also looked good on his approaches, gaining just shy of two strokes thru two rounds, but needs help with the short game. However, if one were to look at the stats day by day, one would see that Laird gained two strokes putting in round two, bouncing back from the loss of 3.5 in round one. So, if the hot putter stays around, he should continue to climb the leaderboard this week, and likely isn’t highly owned by any stretch either.

Other Low Owned Targets for PGA DFS Round 3 of the Wells Fargo Championship

  • Chase Seiffert ($6,900)
  • Adam Schenk ($6,900)
  • Stephan Jaeger ($6,900)
  • Ryan Armour ($6,800)
