Round 4 PGA DFS Picks: The Honda Classic

Previous Round Recap

Well, hopefully, you all cashed in on the C.T. Pan recommendation as he came in the top 3 in scoring for the day at less than 2% ownership. He ended up having one the best round of the day by score, with a 67, as PGA National played its part on Saturday. Ryan Armour & Roger Sloan also had a big move up the leaderboard, jumping 41 spots on the day, and now sit just outside the top 10 heading into Sunday. They will all be chasing first-round leader Matt Jones who took advantage of a late collapse from overnight leader Aaron Wise. He, as Wise did, holds a three-shot lead heading into the final round tomorrow. Jones, notoriously one of the fastest players on the PGA Tour, will have to play with the slowest player, J.B. Holmes. That should be a fun dynamic to watch.

Quick Hitter Round 3 Stat Recap

Sloan & Armour had the total package in the third round, gaining strokes in all four facets. Three others did that as well,

  • Sepp Straka
  • Keegan Bradley
  • Vincent Whaley

General Strategy and Honda Classic PGA DFS Picks

The trend almost every day is that the morning wave has the advantage. But, finishing points being allocated to players will mitigate that a bit tomorrow. I think seven-under for the day, and all those at two under or better could have a shot to win. -9 is where I’m projecting the winner to finish.

PGA DFS Picks for Round 4 of The Honda Classic

  • Adam Scott ($9,700) Having gained strokes on his approaches in all three rounds and having gained in the other three at least once during the tournament, Scott would be one of my biggest candidates to come from way behind and post a number. Sitting 8 back, if he can go out and post 62, I think it wins.
  • Keegan Bradley ($8,800) Leading the field with 16 birdies, Keegan had a bad round two but has looked really good other than that. He’s barely losing or even gaining strokes with the putter, and his ball-striking is in superb form. It could propel him to victory tomorrow and likely high ownership as well.
  • Sam Ryder ($8,000) Quietly Sam has been putting together a pretty good year, giving himself a couple of chances to win. He, like Scott, has gained on his approaches in every round this week and has gained in the other facets at least once during the tournament. Even today, when things weren’t going his way, he was able to grind out a decent score and keep himself inside the top 10 heading into Sunday. He’ll be a bit out a bit before the leaders. Maybe that’ll help him.

Sneaky PGA DFS Pick for Round 4

  • Erik Van Rooyen ($6,600) Showing his GPP prowess again with two eagles on the week, to go along with 9 birdies, he had it going today. He got it to five under at one point but dropped four shots coming in and finishing at -1. It’s probably a tad far back to win, but any big finish will surely help Erik, who hasn’t been at his best this year. The scoring is there. Now he needs to avoid the big numbers.

DraftKings and FanDuel The Honda Classic Lineup Fill-Ins

  • Sungjae Im ($10,700)
  • Phil Mickelson ($7,500)
  • Stewart Cink ($8,100)
  • Ryan Armour ($6,800)
