A beautiful Tom Fazio design, Puntacana Resort and Golf Club has some unique ocean-view holes. The course has been used in some professional capacity since 2016, with the first few being a Korn Ferry event. Corales Championship Tournament History

This event has been a Korn Ferry or PGA Tour event since 2016, so there is plenty of history to go off of. No one is better here than Joel Dahmen, having come four times since 2016 and finishing in the top 13 in all of them, with the win last year. Brice Garnett has made four straight cuts here, including a win four years ago, and he has been playing well recently. Hudson Swafford has also made a little bit of a thing here in these alternate fields, as he’s come in sixth and first in the last two of these events. Emiliano Grillo is also worth mentioning, having made the cut in all three tries and recording one top-10 and two top-21s. Others with multiple top-10s include Kelly Kraft, Rafael Campos, Nate Lashley and Graeme McDowell.

2022 Corales Championship Player Preview & PGA DFS Picks

As expected, this is not a strong field, with just three golfers in the world’s top 100. But it presents a unique opportunity to win $100,000 by digging in and researching some of the lesser-known players.

PGA DFS Picks for this Week

Sahith Theegala ($10,400)

Continuing to put up results and climb the OWGR ranking, Theegala had all the goods coming out of college. He’s been on the first page of the leaderboard a few times and did it a different way last week, scoring better against the field in each round after the first and “back-dooring” a top-10. He shouldn’t need to do that this week, coming in as one of the favorites.

Joel Dahmen ($10,200)

Last year Dahmen’s price was much cheaper, but he’s proven himself to be a worthy competitor. Obviously, he loves coming here and has used this tournament as a steppingstone for the rest of his season. He’s playing well right now, so there’s no need to fade the chalk here.

Doc Redman ($9,100)

Redman had another solid week with the irons at Valspar prior to Round 4, but his putter wasn’t working before that. So this week he should take confidence in the fact that he found a putting stroke late and at least had his iron game most of the first three rounds. He’s been reliable in this part of the season, only missing one cut in his last seven tournaments.

Emiliano Grillo ($8,100)

It’s been a tough year for Grillo, but he comes in as the best value of any golfer under $8,500 this week according to Awesemo’s PGA DFS Projections. Beyond that, he ranks third of everyone in the field. That value is too good to pass up.

Aaron Rai ($8,000)

With the new partnership between the PGA Tour and DP World Tour, there are a few more familiar players for Rai, including Nicolai Hojgaard, Rasmus Hojgaard, Thomas Detry, Victor Perez, Danny Willett, Martin Kaymer and Matthias Schwab. Rai has played well this year, enough to earn a top-10 projection this week.

Deep Targets

  • Hudson Swafford ($7,600)
  • Tyler Duncan ($7,500)
  • Nick Hardy ($7,500)
  • Brandon Wu ($7,400)
  • Chase Seiffert ($7,400)
  • Hank Lebioda ($7,300)
  • Wyndham Clark ($7,300)
  • Hayden Buckley ($7,100)
  • Chesson Hadley ($6,600)
  • Patrick Flavin ($6,600)
