The Masters 2022 Fantasy Golf Tournament Guide & PGA DFS Preview

2022 Masters Favorites (8)

The favorites to win this week, you should be choosing at least two of the seven to start a betting card for the week. Typically someone in the top 30 of the officially world golf ranking wins this event.

  1. Jon Rahm

    • Age & Birthplace: 25/Spain
    • How They Qualified: Winner of the 2021 U.S. Open
    • Recent Form:
      • 9
      • 55
      • 17
      • Best 2022 Finish: 2nd at the Tournament of Champions
    • Masters Form:
      • 2021: 5
      • 2020: 7
      • 2019: 9
      • 2018: 4
    • Bet for the Week: Coming Soon
    • DFS Salary for the Millionaire Maker on DraftKings: $10,800
    • Quick Notes: Rahm has had a difficult season with the putter this year, and it’s kept him out of the winners’ circle and ultimately knocked him out of the first-ranked golfer in the world. His success has been fast here at Augusta, coming in the top 10 in each of the last four years.
  2. Scottie Scheffler

    • Age & Birthplace: 25/USA
    • How They Qualified: Winner of the 2022 WGC Match Play
    • Recent Form:
      • 1
      • 55
      • 1
      • Best 2022 Finish: 1st at the 2022 Arnold Palmer Invitational
    • Masters Form:
      • 2021: 18
      • 2020: 19
    • Bet for the Week: Coming Soon
    • DFS Salary for the Millionaire Maker on DraftKings: $11,000
    • Quick Notes: Rahm’s putting woes have allowed Scheffler to win not only his first PGA Tour event but also his second and third and, in the process, allowed him to take over the No. 1 world ranking spot. He’ll put that to the test here, looking for the first major victory of his young career. He has found the top 20 in each of his first two starts here.
  3. Hideki Matsuyama

    • Age & Birthplace: 28/Japan
    • How They Qualified: Winner of The 2021 Masters
    • Recent Form:
      • WD
      • WD
      • 20
      • Best 2022 Finish: 1st at the Sony Open
    • Masters Form:
      • 2021: 1
      • 2020: 13
      • 2019: 32
      • 2018: 19
    • Bet for the Week: Coming Soon
    • DFS Salary for the Millionaire Maker on DraftKings: $9,300
    • Quick Notes: Besides Tiger Woods, Matsuyama is the most significant question mark in the entire field this week. He’s withdrawn a number of times over the last month, including last week’s Valero Texas Open. The defending champion will try to get healthy enough to give it go this week in his title defense.
  4. Justin Thomas

    • Age & Birthplace: 28/USA
    • How They Qualified: Winner of the 2021 Players Championship
    • Recent Form:
      • 35
      • 3
      • 33
      • Best 2022 Finish: 3rd at the Valspar Championship
    • Masters Form:
      • 2021: 21
      • 2020: 4
      • 2019: 12
      • 2018: 17
    • Bet for the Week: Coming Soon
    • DFS Salary for the Millionaire Maker on DraftKings: $10,300
    • Quick Notes: Like Rahm, the putting woes have continued for Thomas, who ranks just inside the top 100 this year. But everything else has been good, and Thomas hasn’t missed a cut since last year’s PGA Championship. Lastly, having four straight top-21s at this event should give him plenty of confidence this week.
  5. Rory McIlroy

    • Age & Birthplace: 32/Northern Ireland
    • How They Qualified: Winner of the 2021 Wells Fargo Championship
    • Recent Form:
      • 33
      • 13
      • 10
      • Best 2022 Finish: 3rd at the Slync.io Dubai Desert Classic
    • Masters Form:
      • 2021: MC
      • 2020: 5
      • 2019: 21
      • 2018: 5
    • Bet for the Week: Coming Soon
    • DFS Salary for the Millionaire Maker on DraftKings: $10,000
    • Quick Notes: Doing it a bit differently in preparation for this week, as McIlroy went to San Antonio to play at the Valero. He looked awful there. His iron game was terrible, losing over a stroke in two days, and his putter looked flat as well, losing 1.2 strokes in two days. His off-tee game wasn’t even great, losing slightly to the field in the two days. But it was his first missed cut in quite some time, and he’s been known to bounce back from missed cuts in the past.
  6. Cameron Smith

    • Age & Birthplace: 28/Australia
    • How They Qualified: 2022 Players Champion
    • Recent Form:
      • 1
      • 33
      • 4
      • Best 2022 Finish 1st at the Players Championship
    • Masters Form:
      • 2020: 10
      • 2019: 2
      • 2018: 51
      • 2016: 5
    • Bet for the Week: Coming Soon
    • DFS Salary for the Millionaire Maker on DraftKings: $9,900
    • Quick Notes: Outside of Scheffler, Smith has had the best season up to this point. With a record-setting win at the Tournament of Champions and a career-advancing win at the Players, Smith comes in as an outside odds favorite. He’s had wonderful success here at Augusta National as well, making the cut in all five trips, with three top-10s and two top-fives.
  7. Jordan Spieth

    • Age & Birthplace: 28/USA
    • How They Qualified: 2015 Masters Champion
    • Recent Form:
      • 35
      • MC
      • 26
      • Best 2022 Finish: 2nd at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am
    • Masters Form:
      • 2021: 3
      • 2020: 46
      • 2019: 21
      • 2018: 3
    • Bet for the Week: Coming Soon
    • DFS Salary for the Millionaire Maker on DraftKings: $9,800
    • Quick Notes: Contrary to last year, when Spieth came in as one of the hottest golfers on the planet, he isn’t playing all that well right now. But the attributes that he isn’t doing well are typically his strong suits. What he has figured out is his off-tee game. That’s what set him down a destructive path a few years ago. His Sunday round at the Valero looked as most of the backers hoped it would; now the putting just needs to continue to improve.
  8. Tiger Woods

    • Age & Birthplace: 46/USA
    • How They Qualified: 2019 Masters Champion
    • Recent Form: N/A
    • Masters Form:
      • 2020: 38
      • 2019: 1
      • 2018: 32
    • Bet for the Week: Coming Soon
    • DFS Salary for the Millionaire Maker on DraftKings: $8,500
    • Quick Notes: No official report has been filed, but signs certainly are pointing to Woods teeing it up this week. He can’t ever be counted out if he’s good to go, even if he hasn’t made a start all year.

Make sure to stop back in the article throughout the week to check out some of the bets on these players and so much more.
