PGA DFS Round 2
The three-course rotation played out pretty much exactly how we all expected. La Quinta played the easiest and had the most birdie streaks, the Nicklaus course was not far behind in terms of average score and the stadium course lagged behind. Here are the actual numbers:
- La Quinta: 69.57
- Nicklaus: 69.64
- Stadium: 70.654
Strokes gained information was only available for the stadium course, so our information is quite partial. I’ll do my best to decipher the info.
PGA DFS Statistical AnalysisÂ
- Course abbreviations as follows
- La Quinta: LQ
- Nickalus: NC
- Stadium: SC
- *First round course listed first, a second-round course listed second)
First, we will start with birdies, cause that’s what gets us the DraftKings points, right? Cam Champ (NC>SC) and Grayson Murray (SC>LQ) both had nine and lead the way. Tyler McCumber had a wonderful day ball striking, gaining 3.5 on the day, but lost almost two strokes putting. He wasn’t the biggest discrepancy from the 55 golfers that teed it up at Stadium Course though. D.J. Trahan holds that titled, gaining 4.4 strokes ball striking, but losing 2.59 putting. 17-year-old Akshay Bhatia rounds out the ball striking vs. putting stat, gaining 4.35 strokes more with ball striking.

PGA DFS Final Round PicksÂ
Top-10 Pick
Rickie Fowler ($10,400)
The class of the field looked it today, birdieing eight of his 18 holes on Thursday. He heads to the Nicklaus course which may not be as easy as La Quinta, but still provides a much easier test than the Stadium Course. I think we stick with Fowler to anchor our lineups, even with guys like Scottie Scheffler going bogey-free in round one. I’ll have both of them anchor the lineup tomorrow.
PGA DFS Stud or Value Pick outside of Top 10
Nick Watney ($7,000)
A 67 to open on the stadium course, Watney gained 2.24 strokes ball striking and another 2.25 putting. That’s a great combination for this event, and heading to La Quinta, he should be able to take full advantage of it. He lost almost a stroke around the green yesterday, something that will definitely be mitigated at La Quinta tomorrow.
Sneaky Pick Outside of Top 10
Tyler McCumber ($6,100)
A bomber by trade, McCumber had a great day both on his approaches and off the tee. His putter didn’t follow, but he still managed six birdies and suffering just one bogey. He now heads to La Quinta, the easiest course of the three, and even if he doesn’t match the ball striking numbers from today, he’ll still have plenty of birdie opportunities. He should see a slight uptick in putting as well as a few eagle chances
PGA DFS Lineup Fill-InsÂ
Scottie Scheffler ($9,600)
Chase Sieffert ($7,300)
Tom Hoge ($6,700)Â
