Whether it’s your first time reading, or you’re a seasoned vet, this article covers GPP PGA DFS picks for fantasy golf. It also breaks the field down into four price categories for FanDuel, DraftKings, and Yahoo PGA DFS. The article is meant to be a guiding tool in creating variance in your lineups, that in turn hopefully, can create an edge against the field. Winning a GPP of any size is a difficult task, especially ones with 40k-plus entries. Each of my big wins has come by going “Against the Grain” with some players and pairing them with the right chalk. Now, these picks are meant only for Game Theory plays, and may not ultimately in my player pool. On to the Greenbrier!

A quick recap of last week
It’s been over a month since we’ve been able to construct this article, as European PGA DFS is just very hard to cap. But, no worries, we are back!
Player focus this week
Bryson DeChambeau a two time PGA Tour winner, priced only $200 above Viktor Hovland, looks like he’ going to get half the ownership… Wow. Not surprising is the other three golfers priced above 10K this week, with Marc Leishman to risky to spend all that money on, and well Bubba is Bubba, and likely gamers will be more willing to pay for Hovland whose been incredible over the last two months. Obviously, there’s a bit of game theory here, but if you can fall in love with one of those two your bound to get some positive variance in your lines.

I kind of stole my thunder for this section in the last line of the previous section. Starting with both Watson and Leishman that leaves you with plenty of remaining salary to fill the other four spots, could be a huge advantage to you if one of them wins and the other ends in the top 10.
Fantasy Golf Commentary
Joaquin Niemann ( I made that name up, as I think we’ve finally graduated from the Chilean Amateur ranks) is set to lead maybe everyone in ownership, not just this price section but the entire field. Rightfully so might I add, coming in off a top 5 here last year, and an inform putter, something Niemann didn’t have for about 60% of the season last year. Following close behind are two Koreans who both had very good years last year, but are in search of their first win, Sungjae Im & Byeong Hun An. Because of their prices, it’s likely both of those guys join Niemann in being owned over 20% this week.
The ownership drops off a bit before we get to the biggest question mark of the week in terms of ownership Scottie Scheffler. I had him pegged around 20% at first release, but others are not even close to as high, so I’ve brought him down to approximately 15%. He’ll be joined by Russel Henley, Scott Piercy, Keegan Bradley, Kevin Streelman. Russel Knox, Joel Dahmen, Harold Varner III, Cam Smith, Zach Johnson & Brian Harman won’t be too far behind Henley and Piercy, coming in maybe just under 10%. Only five golfers I am comfortable with saying they will be under 10% owned this week and that list includes:
- Denny McCarthy
- Martin Laird
- Kevin Na
- Robert Streb
- J.B. Holmes
Top ATG Play
I haven’t found myself liking any of the guys on the above-bulleted list, and for the most part, my builds are taking me out of this range, other than my second guy in the lineup which is with Scheffler or Niemann at this point.
On the contrary to the pricing section above, I only project four golfers to get over 10% from this price range.
- Cameron Tringale
- Sepp Straka
- Tom Lewis
- Bud Cauley
Outside of those three guys you’ve got well over twenty that will be under 10% owned, and close to 20 that will be under 5% owned. Some of the names on that list that fit either one of these criteria are:
- Mackenzie Hughes
- Doc Redman
- Ryan Armour
- Beau Hossler
- Branden Grace
- Harry Higgs
- Anirban Lahiri
Top ATG PGA DFS Picks
If you can pair someone from the first list, with one or two from that second list, that should be enough variance even if you want to go Hovland/Niemann.
You don’t see many of them though owned over 1 or 2 %, so if you can find one, you like this is definitely the spot to play them. One I am fancying this week is Robby Shelton. A couple of other exciting names down here including D.J. Trahan, Doug Ghim, Roberto Castro, Carlos Ortiz, Nate Lashley, & Brendan Todd.
