President Donald Trump Calls Kentucky Derby Winner Medina Spirit A ‘Junky’ After Positive Drug Test

The big news in the sports world this weekend was Kentucky Derby winner Medina Spirit testing positive for a steroid after last Saturday’s race.

In all honesty, this is just the latest in a long line of substance issues in the sport of horse racing.

There were plenty of comedic takes on social media about the whole thing. President Donald Trump also issued a rather hilarious statement regarding the latest horse racing scandal.

I’m sorry, but this guy’s sarcastic humor is simply top-notch.

In the statement, Donald Trump said that the Kentucky Derby winner’s positive drug test “is emblematic of what is happening to our country.”

Honestly, Trump isn’t all that far off when you consider the opioid epidemic, increased acceptance of recreational drug use and the highest overdose death count the United States has ever seen.

In the aftermath of the drug test, Churchill Downs suspended the Medina Spirit’s trainer, Bob Baffert. One week after setting a record by winning his seventh Kentucky Derby, Baffert is now marred in yet another controversy related to positive drug tests.

Obviously, Medina Spirit is a horse and therefore doesn’t decide what meds and drugs he takes. But that didn’t stop plenty from having a good laugh at the whole ordeal on Twitter:
