CBB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Fantasy Basketball

Stud CBB Picks Today

J.D. Notae ($8,500) — An interesting slate to target studs, a few high-profile game environments stand out. One player in such an environment is Arkansas’ J.D. Notae. Arkansas enters this game as a 5.5-point favorite over LSU in a game with a 141.5-point total. The over continues to make money in this spot with both teams playing well above average in terms of pace. Looking at Notae specifically, the alpha scorer has now played 37, 39 and 24 minutes in Arkansas’ last three games with his limited minutes due to foul trouble. Notae has an absurd 30.6% shot rate and 35.3% assist rate in this span, maximizing his 22.8% usage rate. While teams like Xavier, St. John’s and Alabama all have higher implied team totals, none of their studs have the same usage as Notae. For GPPs specifically, any of the studs for those teams also make sense.

Justin Lewis ($8,000) — Another strong game environment, Marquette enters tonight’s slate as a two-point favorite over DePaul in a game with a 150.5-point total. One of the most involved players in the country, Justin Lewis has seen his price fall following a few underwhelming performances. Fortunately, Lewis has still played 34, 34 and 31 minutes in Marquette’s last three games. He is also involved in every statistical category with a 21.1% shot rate, 24.7% rebound rate and 17.8% assist rate in that span. DePaul ranks 156th in defensive efficiency, giving Lewis a solid bounce-back spot.

Lewis looks like one of the top CBB picks today in Awesemo’s CBB DFS optimizer. Being in such a good spot against DePaul put him on top in the projections. For more of our CBB DFS Picks tonight, be sure to check out the DraftKings CBB Cheat Sheet and FanDuel CBB Cheat Sheet.

Jabari Smith ($7,900) — Losing two of their last three games, Auburn enters tonight’s slate as a four-point favorite over Mississippi State in a game with a 142-point total. Another total rising rapidly, stud Jabari Smith finds himself in a solid buy low spot after the recent struggles. Auburn typically plays a wider rotation than most teams, but Smith has played 35, 28 and 33 minutes in Auburn’s last three games. On top of the minute consistency, he has provided an elite 28.2% shot rate, 25.5% rebound rate and 16.2% assist rate for the team.

Mid-Range CBB Picks Today

David Jones ($6,900) — On the other side of the Marquette game, DePaul still has a 74.25-point implied team total as a two-point underdog. While Javon Freeman-Liberty receives most of the love for this team, David Jones has also played a pivotal role this season. Injured for a stretch of time, Jones immediately returned to play 36 minutes in DePaul’s most recent game. On the year, Jones has incredible consistency, highlighted by his 18.7% shot rate, 17.2% rebound rate and 18.8% assist rate. Even though Freeman-Liberty remains the team’s main scorer, Jones rivals some of the best price-adjusted plays on the entire slate.

Eric Ayala ($6,100) — Another player recently getting over an injury, Maryland’s Eric Ayala has now played 35, 28 and 18 minutes in Maryland’s last three games. Finally regaining his early season form, Ayala has begun to maximize his 18.8% usage rate. On the year, he contributes a 21.4% shot rate, 12% rebound rate and 17.6% assist rate for the offense. More importantly, he draws an excellent matchup as a seven-point favorite in a game with a 136.5-point total against Minnesota’s 243rd ranked defense.

Trey Alexander ($5,200) — Creighton continues to battle injury with Ryan Nembhard being the most recent victim. Still, Creighton remains a four-point underdog to UConn in a game with a 135-point total. While Creighton’s implied team total lags behind some other teams on this slate, the injuries open up potential value. In particular, Trey Alexander has played 34, 33 and 37 minutes for Creighton in their last three games. More importantly, he has been incredibly involved with a 17.3% shot rate, 17.7% rebound rate and 27.5% assist rate within that span. Even in a tough matchup, his consistency makes him an excellent play.

CBB Value Picks Today

Au’Diese Toney ($4,600) — For those looking at cheaper attachments to Arkansas’ offense, Pittsburgh transfer Au’Diese Toney continues to play a ton. Toney has now played 37, 33 and 37 minutes over Arkansas’ last three games. While Toney is largely uninvolved, he still provides an 11.1% shot rate and 15.5% rebound rate in that span. At a cheap price, his minute consistency makes him a worthwhile target across DFS formats tonight.

Arthur Kaluma ($4,500) — For those looking at even cheaper attachments to Creighton, Arthur Kaluma finally returned from a multi-game absence to play 28 and 19 minutes in Creighton’s last two games. On the year, Kaluma has a 12.1% shot rate and 11.1% rebound rate, both depressed by the injury. With the Blue Jays running short on bodies, Kaluma should continue to play 25-plus minutes per game for the offense. At this price, he remains a solid target in a tough matchup.

Jalen Warley ($4,200) — Even with Caleb Mills, Anthony Polite, Malik Osborne and Naheem McLeod all injured, Florida State cannot help but play ten-man rotations. One beneficiary is Jalen Warley. Typically the backup ball-handler, Warley has now played 25, 26 and 35 minutes in Florida State’s last three games. Involved when on the court, Warley has a 13.6% shot rate, 16.3% rebound rate and 38.9% assist rate. Some of this occurred with RayQuan Evans injured, but Warley remains involved nonetheless. Warley does not have the same minute consistency as Toney or Kaluma, but he is involved when he touches the floor.
