Without Rodgers, the thought process was that Davante Adams would have been a solid option but would be limited by Jordan Love. Now with Rodgers back at the helm, could Adams finish as the No. 1 wide receiver in fantasy football for 2021? Adams’ Production in 2020
Last year Adams was viewed as the No. 2 wide receiver behind Michael Thomas. He played in 14 games, seeing 149 targets (fourth amongst wide receivers) and 115 receptions (second) for 1,374 yards (fourth) and 18 touchdowns (first). At a full-season pace Adams would have amassed 131 receptions for 1,570 yards and 21 touchdowns. When Adams is healthy, there is not too much of an argument against him being a top-three receiver.

One of the earliest moves the Packers made this offseason was bringing back Aaron Jones. While many would argue they overpaid for Jones, bringing him back is just another assurance that the offense will run a similar way in 2021. The biggest move for the Packers was getting Rodgers to return. If the other scenario had played out where Rodgers left and Jordan Love became the starter, Adams would be tougher to rely upon. Other news was the re-signing of Randall Cobb and the drafting of Amari Rodgers. While those moves are good for the team, they have no impact on Adams’ upside in 2021.
Adams Outlook in 2021
Trying to figure out any scenario where Adams does not finish inside the top five at wide receiver is nearly impossible, barring injury. He is one of the safest receivers in fantasy football due to the immense amount of volume he sees game in and game out. Last season he had a 34.1% target share and a 42.2% red zone target share. Those numbers are not outliers, as in 2019 he had a 30.3% target share and a 39.7% red zone target share. With so much volume coming his way, there is no stopping Adams. It also helps that his quarterback is the reigning MVP. Even with small additions into this offense, no one will be taking targets away from Adams, and he will contend for the No. 1 receiver spot in fantasy football.
