Following another postponement for Jacob deGrom (scratched with injury, although the game itself was postponed for weather), we move on to a 10-game main slate with another stud, Shane Bieber, heading into Kauffman Stadium. Turning to Awesemo’s MLB Top Pitchers Tool and daily fantasy baseball point projections, we’ll navigate the player pool of pitchers by identifying the best matchups and relevant stats while cementing worthy pitching candidates for daily fantasy baseball rosters. With Freddy Peralta facing the Phillies and Brady Singer‘s homefield start against the Indians, addressing a multitude of pricing tiers will also be in our best interests for roster flexibility. Without further ado, here are the Spotlight Pitchers for DraftKings and FanDuel on Wednesday, May 5.

Top Daily Fantasy Baseball Starting Pitchers | May 5
Shane Bieber: CLE at KC — DraftKings $10,400; FanDuel $12,200
Shane Bieber draws the start in the second game of Cleveland’s road trip in Kansas City. Bieber is having another remarkable year, averaging 31.9 DraftKings and 55.66 FanDuel points per game in six starts this season. His opponent in Kansas City wields one of the lower strikeout rates in the league, but Bieber has constant potential for monster fantasy performances.
Awesemo’s MLB Top Pitchers Tool gives Bieber a 39.8% chance of being a top-two pitcher on DraftKings and a 14.4% chance of being the top pitcher on FanDuel. To no surprise, his MLB DFS point projections make him the top pitching option on Wednesday. Provided the outlandish asking price most notably on FanDuel, Bieber has a 1% of being a top value on FanDuel, while his 13.1% top-two chance on DraftKings is much more palatable. MLB DFS ownership projections of 43.5% DraftKings is extreme, but the 18.1% mark on FanDuel does not the envelope nearly as much.
Bieber is scheduled to face five righties and one switch-hitter from Kansas City. He will have to mitigate the damage from the heart of the order in Salvador Perez (fourth) and Jorge Soler (fifth), each hitting over a .282 ISO against right-handed pitching through the past two seasons. Bieber produced 14.75 K/9 with a 41.9% strikeout rate, 6.8% walk rate, .181 average against, 1.36 HR/9 and 0.91 WHIP against right-handed hitters last season, while faring every bit as remarkably against lefties and allowing fewer home runs. Collectively, the Royals against right-handed pitching have a 22.7% strikeout rate, .240 batting average, .314 on-base percentage and 104 wRC+. While the Royals have improved this season, Bieber’s arsenal has demonstrated fantasy totals worthy of the premium price head-and-shoulders above the other options.

Freddy Peralta: MIL at PHI — DraftKings $9,500; FanDuel $9,000
Freddy Peralta is having his best season to date and draws the start Wednesday on the road against Philadelphia. He has 14.46 K/9 and a 40.2% strikeout rate, .146 average against, 1.00 WHIP, 12% walk rate and 3.00 FIP. With Philadelphia currently striking out above league average, Peralta projects to be among the top pitching options available Wednesday.
Awesemo’s MLB Top Pitchers Tool gives Peralta a 28.4% chance of being a top-two pitcher on DraftKings and 10% top pitcher on FanDuel. Peralta’s daily fantasy baseball point projections of 23.24 DraftKings and 38.54 FanDuel points make him the next best option beneath Bieber on Wednesday. His MLB DFS ownership projections of 29.6% on DraftKings and 22.5% on FanDuel reflect his popularity, however.
The Phillies are scheduled to roll out a balanced lineup of five righties and four left-handed hitters. Peralta could see hiccups in the early segment of the Phillies batting order with lefty Brad Miller‘s .466 slugging percentage and 124 wRC+ against right-handed pitching over the past season, and Bryce Harper being an obvious threat should he play (questionable to return from being struck in the face by a pitch a week ago). Over his career against righties, Peralta has a 33% strikeout rate, .207 average against, 7.6% walk rate, 1.07 WHIP, 3.41 FIP and 1.32 HR/9. Philadelphia is striking out 25.9% of the time and has a .298 on-base percentage against righties this season. With the rate Peralta is mowing down the opposition, he makes an excellent option for fantasy rosters tonight.

Brady Singer: KC vs. CLE — DraftKings $5,500; FanDuel $7,400
Brady Singer rises to the top of the bargain bin on Wednesday, drawing the start against Cleveland at a discount. Singer has been solid so far posting 10.03 K/9 with a 26.3% strikeout rate, .216 average against, 9.1% walk rate, 1.20 WHIP, 0.77 HR/9, and 3.41 FIP. Averaging 14.9 DraftKings and 27.6 FanDuel points in five starts this season, Singer should be able to mitigate fly ball damage against a Cleveland team that hits a lot of them.
Awesemo’s MLB Top Pitchers Tool gives Singer a 9.4% chance of being a top-two pitcher on DraftKings and 5.5% of being the top pitcher on FanDuel. With major savings offered on DraftKings, Singer has a 28.6% top-two value chance, though on FanDuel he is down to a 6.2% top-value chance due to a slight price hike. Singer’s MLB DFS ownership of 13.8% on DraftKings and 2.7% on FanDuel signify where the public is strictly chasing the savings above all else.
Singer draws a Cleveland batting order of four righties, three lefties and two switch-hitters. He has 9.22 K/, a .220 average against, 0.88 HR/9, 1.10 WHIP and 3.34 FIP against righties over his two seasons in the majors, with similar production against lefties, save for a slightly higher home run and walk rate surrendered. Switch-hitting beast Jose Ramirez (third) is smacking a .288 ISO off righty pitchers and has a 145 wRC+, while Franmil Reyes (fourth) is hitting .288 with a 135 wRC+. Cleveland has hit for .219 off right-handed pitching this season, with a 25.7% strikeout rate, .287 on-base percentage, 92 wRC+ and 13.7% infield fly ball rate. At a significant price reduction on DraftKings and still a fair bargain on FanDuel, Singer represents one of the best values on Wednesday.
