Tonight’s Top Monkey Knife Fight MLB Player Prop Picks
More or Less: Corbin Burnes Over 7.5 K’s, Touki Toussaint Over 5.5 K’s (3x)
Before focusing exclusively on the long ball, there are two pitchers to target in the Brewers – Braves game tonight in Atlanta. Corbin Burnes needs very little explanation, as his slate-high 36.6% strikeout rate does all the talking for him. While Joc Pederson is a welcome lefty to add to this Braves lineup, he still strikes out at 24.3% clip and is no Ronald Acuna Jr. by any stretch. The Awesemo Player Props tool grades out more than 7.5 strikeouts for Burnes as its second-best pitcher prop to target today with an expected win percentage of 70%. He makes an easy plug-and-play in any format on any site this evening.
As for Touki Toussaint, the Braves righty struggled mightily in 2020 to the tune of an 8.88 ERA. He was on the 60-day injured list the entire season before making his season debut on July 20, where he shut down a potent Padres lineup in 6.2 innings, striking out five and surrendering only a lone run. He one-upped that performance on Sunday with a 7-inning, 10-strikeout spectacular against the Phillies, once again giving up only one earned.
The big change for Toussaint, who has always been atrocious at allowing walks with a career 13.2% walk rate, is the reliance on a sinker for nearly 60% of his pitches (only threw it 5% of the time all of 2020). If he continues to get that pitch in for strikes, Toussaint is lethal with his breaking stuff to generate swings-and-misses and should have no trouble with a Brewers lineup striking out at a 25.2% clip versus righties this season (sixth worst in MLB). This makes Toussaint a strong candidate for more than 5.5 strikeouts in this spot.

Home Run Blast: Joey Gallo, Aaron Judge, Eric Haase Over 0.5 HRs (2x)
In the 7:05 p.m. ET window of games, there are three major power bats to focus on for the Home Run Blast contest tonight. Two come from the same team and should come as no surprise, as the rich got richer when the Yankees finally got the lefty power bat they so desperately desired in Joey Gallo. The Bronx Bombers lineup is now littered with hard hit rates north of 50%, especially Aaron Judge who sports a ridiculous 57.6% hard hit rate. The addition of shiny new toy Gallo will further enhance Judge’s lethality, especially in American League ballparks when Giancarlo Stanton can join in the fun as a designated hitter. But even in tonight’s National League matchup in a brutal ballpark, the opportunity is there for the Gallo/Judge one-two punch.
As for Eric Haase, he is the unexpected man to make the trio but is rightfully deserving of a spot amongst this trio. The 28-year-old has found something in his swing this season, leading to 17 home runs in 217 plate appearances tonight. However, the real kicker here is the opportunity to target Orioles starter Matt Harvey who has pitched noticeably better this season, although that is not saying much with his 11.57 ERA in 2020 improving to a still-awful 6.65 ERA in 2021. While factoring in ownership is game you have to play on bigger DFS sites, at Monkey Knife Fight simply play the best plays and move on. So include Haase in the Home Run Blast lineups in hopes that his improved long ball prowess continues.
Home Run Blast: Shohei Ohtani, Matt Olson, Max Muncy Over 0.5 HRs (2x)
During the summer months, the East Coast generally grades out as the spot to pluck home run hitters from due to hot-and-humid hitting environments plus lethal lineups in the AL East. But tonight, the home run totals for hitters in the late games are staggering enough that they might be the priorities over anything in the earlier session. Between the home run totals for Shohei Ohtani (37), Matt Olson (27) and Max Muncy (22), there is no denying the power potential of this trio. Once again, this is geared towards a split of the $5,000 Home Run Blast contest pool, so perhaps mixing-and-matching one or two of these plays with other less rostered hitters might be the better way to win the entire bonus. But considering the immense power potential of these three, they stand out as the best Monkey Knife Fight MLB fantasy picks to go yard this evening.
