NBA DFS Picks: Value + Stud for Sept. 27

NBA DFS Value Pick: Duncan Robinson

DraftKings $5,000, FanDuel $9,000

This is a really annoying game for value. The big man situation from the Celtics is nearly impossible to predict. There is no real rhyme or reason for whether Enes Kanter or Robert Williams plays the center minutes. There is even a chance that neither gets minutes tonight. I don’t doubt that both of them have upside, but they are each really difficult to trust. This is what leads me to target the lower end of the midrange to save salary.

With Robinson, there is some risk of foul trouble. We have seen games where he gets into early foul trouble and struggles to stay on the court. When on the court, Robinson is lighting up the Celtics from deep. Oddly enough, we usually know whether we are getting a big Robinson game or not within three minutes of the first quarter. At this point, he’s either in foul trouble or already knocked down a couple of threes. In this series, we are getting more good games than bad from Robinson. In the last four games, he’s put up games with three, four and six three-pointers.

NBA DFS Stud Pick: Jayson Tatum

DraftKings $10,600, FanDuel $16,000

By a mile, Tatum is the highest scoring fantasy player in this series. Without much of a price gap from him to the next tier of guys like Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, I think we have to consider Tatum the best option to pay up for. Dating back to the series against the Raptors, Tatum scored at least 52 DraftKings points in six of his last seven games. This also comes with a ceiling that most other players in this series don’t possess. Tatum went over 60 DraftKings point in three of those games. The reality is that he should carry a much bigger price tag than any other player in this contest. It isn’t all that tough to fit him into lineups even with a lack of reliable value.

NBA DFS Contrarian Pick: Andre Iguodala

DraftKings $4,200, FanDuel $6,500

Even though I don’t think Iguodala is much of a fantasy producer at this point in his career, it looks like the Heat are leaning on his experience to help close out the series. He’s averaging 23.5 minutes in the last two games. Despite averaging a meager 0.73 DraftKings point per minute this season, the reality is that there are very few cheap players we can rely on to get minutes from. If Iguodala can get to double-digit fantasy points, it could end up enough to get him onto the optimal lineup. Rostering Iggy has less to do with him as a play and more to do with the lack of other options we have to choose from.
