Merry Christmas! Of course, along with great food and presents, we have a day full of NBA games. We have a five-game main slate today. With this, there is injury news you will need to pay attention to. The Awesemo NBA Starting Lineups page will give you breaking news when starters are announced as well as a full injury report on players who might be missing in action. Below are some NBA daily fantasy options that stand out for tonight’s slate using Awesemo Boom/Bust Tool and NBA DFS projections.
NBA Fantasy Projections & Optimal Lineup Picks Tonight
Top Boom Candidates
Jalen Brunson: $7,600 DraftKings/$7,400 FanDuel | 55.2% DraftKings Boom/50.2% FanDuel Boom
With Luka Doncic out, Jalen Brunson will continue to start and play well for the Mavericks. As a starter this season, Brunson has averaged 20.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 7.2 assists. The Mavericks could also be without Kristaps Porzingis, who missed last game due to a toe injury. If he is out once again, Dallas would ask even more from Brunson. Regardless, he is a high floor, high ceiling play on Christmas. The Awesemo Boom/Bust Tool gives Brunson a ceiling of about 50 NBA fantasy points.
DeMarcus Cousins: $4,900 DraftKings/$6,000 FanDuel | 67.3% DraftKings Boom/40.8% FanDuel Boom
At the time of writing, Bobby Portis and Giannis Antetokounmpo are both still in the health and safety protocols. It wouldn’t be terribly surprising to see Giannis play, since the NBA wants its stars out there on Christmas. However, with the way DeMarcus Cousins has been playing, he will have a large role in this game against Boston. Cousins has averaged 17.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and three defensive stats over the past three games. Awesemo’s projections list Cousins as the third-best NBA fantasy value play overall on DraftKings.

Onyeka Okongwu: $3,300 DraftKings/$3,800 FanDuel | 70.1% DraftKings Boom/65.3% FanDuel Boom
The Hawks’ lineup is wiped out due to COVID. In the frontcourt, Clint Capela, De’Andre Hunter, Danilo Gallinari and Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot are all out, leading to a larger role for Onyeka Okongwu. The second-year player is coming off a game in which he played 34 minutes and totaled 13 points, eight rebounds, three assists, three blocks and a steal. He will be asked to play a large role against the Knicks on Christmas. As a result, Awesemo’s projections list Okongwu as the top overall value play on FanDuel and the second-best on DraftKings.
Top Bust Candidates
Dennis Schroder: $6,400 DraftKings/$5,700 FanDuel | 77.8% DraftKings Bust/67.8% FanDuel Bust
Dennis Schroder is still priced as if he is getting a ton of minutes, but that simply isn’t the case. He has averaged 22.7 minutes over his past three games. As a result, he has averaged only six points, two rebounds and 2.3 assists. There is no reason to play him on Christmas. The Awesemo Boom/Bust Tool gives Schroder a ceiling of only around 27 NBA fantasy points.
