NBA DFS Picks Based Off of Optimal Lineup Percentage and Ownership Projections for DraftKings + FanDuel

In NBA DFS and daily fantasy basketball as a whole, it is not as simple as rostering who we think the best play is. We have to consider the odds each individual player has of going off or busting. Nobody is a sure thing. With the Awesemo NBA DFS Boom vs. Bust Tool, we have our own odds to help us navigate range of outcomes for NBA daily fantasy. These are some of the NBA DFS picks on DraftKings and FanDuel that have the best NBA DFS projections of booming or busting according to our tool.

NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Boom Candidates

Christian Wood vs. Bulls: $9,800/$8,900

42.6% DraftKings Boom/37.6% FanDuel Boom

Wood’s price is up, but the Boom vs. Bust Tool doesn’t seem to care. The Rockets are expected to have Victor Oladipo making his debut with the team, while John Wall remains out because of knee soreness. In the starting lineup, usage is still up for grabs since James Harden is now in Brooklyn. In Houston’s last couple games without Harden, Wood is taking over. He averaged over 50 fantasy points with a usage rate of nearly 30%. At first glance his price looks high, but his recent production and role justify the salary.

Giannis Antetokounmpo vs. Nets: $11,300/$10,400

28.9% DraftKings Boom/26.5% FanDuel Boom

This is the first of what is likely many great battles between the Bucks and the new-look Nets. By the betting odds, these are the two favorites to make it out of the Eastern Conference, and these teams are yet to play this season. While the Nets figure to cause issues for teams on offense, I don’t think their defense will hold up. The Nets defense could tank in the short term until they add another big man to the roster. Trading away Jarrett Allen is going to cost them depth in the frontcourt, and DeAndre Jordan isn’t the player he once was. This is also one of the rare spots where I think we can expect extended minutes out of Giannis due to the high-profile nature of this game.

Eric Gordon vs. Bulls: $5,200/$5,200

31.5% DraftKings Boom/34.3% FanDuel Boom

Gordon is one of my favorite plays on the slate. Without Harden or Wall in the lineup, Gordon should play a big role for the offense. Oladipo is debuting with the team, although it’s unclear how significant of a role he will play out of the gate without much time on his new team. What we do know is that Gordon is playing a massive role with Harden and Wall of the court this season in a limited sample size. In the minutes he’s played without those stars, Gordon has a 35.5% usage rate. I expect Houston to lean on him as long as he has no restrictions coming back from a leg injury.

NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Bust Candidates

Jrue Holiday vs. Nets: $7,600/$7,200

59.4% DraftKings Bust/48.4% FanDuel Bust

Even though I referenced this as an easy matchup for the Bucks above with Giannis, I don’t like Holiday for this slate. He isn’t a player I have gone out of my way to target this season. Playing with Milwaukee, his usage is down with so much star talent around him. Holiday has a 19% usage rate this season, which is significantly less than what he saw a year ago in New Orleans. He posted a 24.6% usage rate with the Pelicans last season and hasn’t hit that amount of usage in a single game this year. There aren’t enough shots going to Holiday for me to roster him at this price.
