In NBA DFS and daily fantasy basketball as a whole, it is not as simple as rostering the best play appears to be. Gamers have to consider the odds each individual player has of going off or busting. NBA DraftKings + FanDuel Boom Candidates

Enes Kanter vs. Pistons: $5,900/$5,000

34.6% DraftKings Boom/64.6% FanDuel Boom

Jusuf Nurkic will be out tonight, which means Kanter will start and again get a full workload. On top of that, he gets a relatively easy matchup with the Pistons. Kanter has a double-double in three straight starts, which includes grabbing at least 15 rebounds in all three games. Facing the Pistons, who are tied for 23rd in effective field goal percentage, there will be plenty of opportunities for Kanter to rack up defensive rebounds today. Awesemo’s expert NBA DFS projections have Kanter coming in just a tick under 36 fantasy points tonight on both DraftKings and FanDuel.

Isaiah Hartenstein vs. Raptors: $5,000/$5,100

18.8% DraftKings Boom/27.3% FanDuel Boom

If you haven’t played Hartenstein over the past 10 days, it’s not too late to jump aboard. With Larry Nance and Jarrett Allen still out, we know Hartenstein will have a big role. This, combined with his cheap price, makes him a terrific play tonight — and is a top-6 point-per-dollar value play, according to Awesemo projections. He has played 20-plus minutes in four of his past five games, being a “boom” play in all four of those games. Awesemo has him projected for 22 minutes tonight. Hartenstein has also grabbed 12-plus rebounds in three of those games, found his way into the block column every game and he can be a sneaky contributor for blocks. Consider him a low-risk, high-reward play today.

Kevin Porter Jr. vs. Warriors: $6,900/$6,600

20.6% DraftKings Boom/29.6% FanDuel Boom

Both the Rockets and Warriors are on the second leg of a back-to-back. The last time the Warriors had a back-to-back, Steph Curry sat. This would be good news for Porter Jr. tonight, as he wouldn’t have to worry about helping to defend him and waste energy that way. Either way, Porter should find himself in a competitive game tonight with another poor team. If John Wall remains out, Porter is an even better play, but Porter still has a chance to be a “boom” play with Wall back. He should face relatively weak defense, and his mid-tier salary makes him easy to fit tonight.

NBA DraftKings + FanDuel Bust Candidates

Kevin Durant vs. Lakers: $9,100/$9,300

92.7% DraftKings Bust/86.7% FanDuel Bust

Durant made is long-awaited return from injury last game. He looked good in his return, hitting all five of his shots, grabbing seven rebounds and dishing five assists. However, he played just 19 minutes and did have some of his success because he came off the bench to lead the second unit in the first half. It’s unlikely his minutes jump too much. Because of this, he has a high likelihood of being a bust, due to his price not reflecting his current workload.
