In NBA DFS and daily fantasy basketball as a whole, it is not as simple as rostering the best play appears to be. Gamers have to consider the odds each individual player has of going off or busting. NBA DraftKings + FanDuel Boom Candidates

Paul George vs. Pistons: $8,400/$9,000

30.6% DraftKings Boom/29.2% FanDuel Boom

George was out last game, and now Kawhi Leonard will be out tonight. Since trading away Lou Williams, even more of the offensive weight has fallen upon the shoulders of these two. So when one sits out, the other will be taking plenty of shots. Leonard took 20 shots last game and, facing a terrible Pistons team today, George will likely take at least 20 shots. He has the potential to be the top overall scorer on this NBA slate. George also has seen a 9.8% usage bump with Leonard, Williams and Serge Ibaka all off the floor this season.

Isaiah Hartenstein vs. Pelicans: $5,200/$5,600

53.6% DraftKings Boom/57.7% FanDuel Boom

Hartenstein has been terrific for NBA fantasy, recently. He continues to thrive with both Larry Nance Jr. and Jarrett Allen out, and both will be out again today. Hartenstein had a big fantasy day yesterday, highlighted by his four blocks and three steals. On the second leg of a back-to-back, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Kevin Love sit. This would mean even more minutes for Hartenstein.

Dillon Brooks vs. Pacers: $5,300/$5,500

24.9% DraftKings Boom/27.8% FanDuel Boom

In a solid matchup today, Brooks has one of the highlight probabilities to boom. He has righted the ship recently, putting up a boom performance in two of his past three games. Brooks finished with 23 points and five assists against a tough Knicks team last time out. Today he gets an easy matchup against the Pacers. It is also an easy matchup for Ja Morant, which is good news for Brooks since the two have strong positive correlation. Brooks scored 25 against the Knicks back in February.

NBA DraftKings + FanDuel Bust Candidates

Anthony Edwards vs. Bulls: $7,600/$7,600

79.4% DraftKings Bust/68.2% FanDuel Bust

Despite playing 40 minutes in an overtime game last time out, Edwards was still a bust. He has seen his salary rise a ton over the past month. Now D’Angelo Russell is back in the lineup. While Russell has been coming off the bench, he still played 29 minutes and had a 29.2% usage rate last game. This affected Edwards, who only had a 18% usage rate. While the minutes should continue to be there for Edwards, Russell returning is making Edwards the third scoring option too often, which leads to a high likelihood that he will bust at this price.
