DraftKings + FanDuel Boom/Bust Projections | April 16
NBA Fantasy Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Boom CandidatesÂ
Isaiah Stewart vs. Thunder: $4,400 DraftKings/$4,800 FanDuel
55.8% DraftKings Boom/62.1% FanDuel Boom
The Pistons’ injury report is a disaster for tonight. Jerami Grant remains out again, while Mason Plumlee is getting rested. Detroit was already thin in the frontcourt, so this leaves them with Stewart, Sekou Doumbouya and Jahlil Okafor as the only active bigs. Okafor has only played 29 minutes since the start of February, so it seems unlikely he will shoulder a large load. This leaves Stewart to likely start at center and play as many minutes as he can handle. He has the best boom rating on both FanDuel and DraftKings for this reason. The last time he started, Stewart played 33 minutes and scored over 40 fantasy points.
Killian Hayes vs. Thunder: $3,500 DraftKings/$3,800 FanDuel
39.5% DraftKings Boom/38.9% FanDuel Boom
The backcourt situation for the Pistons isn’t much better than the frontcourt situation. Rodney McGruder, Cory Joseph, Wayne Ellington and Dennis Smith Jr. are all out tonight. With these injuries in mind, playing time is up for grabs and it makes sense to give Hayes as many minutes as he can handle. Detroit took him in the first round of the Draft, and he hasn’t gotten a ton of run this season because of a hip injury. Since returning and getting healthy, Hayes has shown some of the promise that made him a lottery pick. He is averaging 19 DraftKings points in 21 minutes per game since returning, and he could play over 30 minutes tonight due to all the injuries.

Fred VanVleet vs. Magic: $7,900 DraftKings/$7,400 FanDuel
29.4% DraftKings Boom/44.7% FanDuel Boom
VanVleet finally returns to action tonight after a layoff due a suspension and an injury. He probably will not play 36 minutes, although he should play a healthy number of minutes. It is not often wise to target a player coming off a layoff, but everybody is out for the Raptors. Gary Trent Jr., Jalen Harris, Pascal Siakam, Kyle Lowry and O.G. Anunoby are all expected to miss tonight’s game. This should mean that VanVleet will have a massive usage rate during the time he is on the court. The uptick in points per minute outweighs him potentially playing a couple fewer minutes than normal, and that’s exemplified in the Awesemo NBA Fantasy projections.
NBA Fantasy Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Bust Candidates
Anthony Edwards vs. Pistons: $7,500 DraftKings/$7,600 FanDuel
75.1% DraftKings Bust/65.1% FanDuel Bust
Edwards is coming on really strong in the second half of the season. With LaMelo Ball out because of a broken wrist, betting odds have changed dramatically and Edwards is now favored to win the Rookie Of The Year award. Going forward, there are some concerns about his fantasy production. Karl-Anthony Towns is returning after an absence due to personal reasons, while D’Angelo Russell is also healthy and starting to play more minutes. The Timberwolves have dealt with injuries for most of the season, and Edwards could lose out on usage going forward with the time getting healthier.
