Heat vs. Lakers NBA Finals Game 1 Info

Miami Heat (44-29, 29-7 Home) vs. Los Angeles Lakers (52-19, 25-10 Home)
Date: Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2020
Time: 9 p.m. EST
Venue: ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex – Lake Buena Vista, FL
Coverage: ABC

Miami overcame the Boston Celtics is six games in the most competitive series the Heat have faced this postseason. Three of Miami’s four wins were by single digits, with Game 1 also going into overtime. The Heat had three different players lead a game in scoring during the series, and none of them were the team’s perceived best player, Jimmy Butler. Instead, Goran Dragic led in scoring three times, Bam Adebayo twice and rookie Tyler Herro exploded for 37 points, the most of any Heat player in the series.

The Heat are taking a more balanced approach, maximizing team basketball in a similar way to the Toronto Raptors last season. They have multiple players that can step up to lead the team offensively, which is different from how the Lakers are built.

The Lakers continue to be led by their two stars — LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Davis has led the team in scoring, averaging 28.8 points this postseason while shooting an efficient 57.1 percent. LeBron is averaging 26.7 points on 54.7 percent shooting, while also averaging 8.9 assists. These two are the majority of the Lakers’ offense, and an off game from either could be difficult to overcome.

The biggest thing to make note of for this game will be if LeBron shows up for NBA Finals Game 1. The Lakers are 1-2 in the first game of their three postseason series, and much of this is because LeBron had not been as aggressive as he needed to be. Through three games, LeBron has averaged 19.3 points. Could we see another passive Game 1 or will LeBron make sure the Lakers start 1-0?
