Curtis Samuel Still Managing Groin Injury

Washington Football Team wide receiver Curtis Samuel (groin) put in another limited practice to begin the week on Wednesday. Samuel continues to be eased into the offense the last two weeks because of a groin issue that has bothered him since the summer. With limited snaps (20 in each of the last two weeks), Samuel has caught both of his targets for only eight receiving yards. The 25-year-old could eventually see an expanded role to close out the season, especially with tight end Logan Thomas (knee) now out for the year, but fantasy managers moved on a long time ago in most leagues. Terry McLaurin is the only receiver that fantasy managers want anything to do with in Washington, and even Scary Terry has been unreliable at times in 2021.

Curtis Samuel Will Play In Week 13

Washington Football Team wide receiver Curtis Samuel (groin), who is listed as questionable for Week 13 against the Las Vegas Raiders, will play on Sunday, according to a source. Samuel was able to put in limited practice this week after returning for the first time on Monday since Week 5. In just his third game of the season, Samuel played 24% of the team's offensive snaps in Week 12 and caught his only target for a nine-yard gain. The 25-year-old should eventually become a bigger part of the passing game down the stretch if he can manage to avoid aggravating his troublesome groin injury, but fantasy managers shouldn't be eager to use him in starting lineups despite a Raiders defense that has allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to WRs in the last three weeks.

Curtis Samuel - Week 13 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Washington Football Team wide receiver Curtis Samuel (groin) could have an increased role in his second game back after being limited last week in his first game action since Week 5. Samuel was given two touches in his return, which turned into one catch for nine yards, and a rushing attempt that gained four yards. The former Carolina Panther said he's able to "run fast, able to cut and play without thinking of the injury," so he could be in line for a significant role moving forward. We saw DeAndre Carter find the end zone in three straight games from Week 8 to Week 11, so there is clearly some upside for Samuel in the Washington offense. It may be hard to trust him in lineups this week, but he is someone worth monitoring because of his dynamic skill set. He is listed as questionable to play on Sunday, but as of now, it looks like the speedster will be active on Sunday. The 25-year-old is a dart throw in Week 13.

Curtis Samuel, Ricky Seals-Jones Questionable Against Raiders

Washington Football Team wide receiver Curtis Samuel (groin) and tight end Ricky Seals-Jones (hip) are both listed as questionable to play on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders. Samuel returned from a nagging groin injury to play last Monday for the first time since Week 5. He predictably played only 24% of the offensive snaps and caught his only target for nine yards. Samuel should play again this weekend, but with only three games played in his first year in D.C. due to his groin injury, he should be off the fantasy radar against Las Vegas. Seals-Jones seems primed to return after missing the last two games, but Logan Thomas is back from Injured Reserve, making RSJ one to leave to the waiver wire.

Curtis Samuel Puts In A Limited Practice

Washington Football Team wide receiver Curtis Samuel (groin) was able to practice on a limited basis on Wednesday. Samuel played in just his third game of the season in the Monday night win over the Seattle Seahawks, and first since Week 5, catching his only target for nine yards and carrying the ball once for four yards on 20 offensive snaps (24% of the total snaps). It's not surprising that Samuel had such a limited role after the long layoff, but he could slowly start to see a bigger chunk of the snaps moving forward. Still, expecting the 25-year-old to suddenly go off against the Las Vegas Raiders this Sunday wouldn't be very smart. Fantasy managers should be able to find better flex options with more upside in Week 13.

Nov 30th · 12:28 AM
Logan Thomas, Curtis Samuel Officially Active For Monday Night

Washington Football Team wide receiver Curtis Samuel (groin) and tight end Logan Thomas (hamstring) are officially active for Monday's game against the Seattle Seahawks. Thomas and Samuel were recently activated from injured reserve and will play in Monday's game. Samuel has played in just two games this year and is expected to be on a snap count. The 25-year-old is mainly a stash in deep-league formats for now. Thomas missed six games with a hamstring injury and is expected to start at tight end with Ricky Seals-Jones ruled out. The 25-year-old will be most likely be on a snap count and has appeared in only two games in 2021. Fantasy managers can safely insert Thomas into their starting lineups.

Nov 27th · 06:22 PM
Curtis Samuel Likely To Play On Monday Night

Washington Football Team wide receiver Curtis Samuel (groin) is looking likely to play on Monday night against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 12. However, Samuel will be on a pitch count if he's able to suit up for the first time since Week 5. The 25-year-old was supposed to be a big part of Washington's offense in his first year in D.C., but Samuel has managed to play in only two games (four catches for 19 yards) due to a groin injury that has been bothering him since the summer. He obviously won't be worth using in starting fantasy lineups against Seattle on Monday, but Samuel is a player worth watching on the waiver wire if he can remain healthy and earn a bigger role as the No. 2 receiver behind Terry McLaurin. Samuel's impending return is bad news for Adam Humphries and DeAndre Carter.

Nov 21st · 04:49 PM
Curtis Samuel Out For Week 11

Washington Football Team wide receiver Curtis Samuel (groin) appeared to have a chance to play Sunday against the Panthers, but he was ultimately ruled out. Samuel has appeared in just two games this year for Washington and only saw his full workload in Week 4, when he played 25 snaps and caught four passes for 19 yards. Samuel has talent and the Washington receiving corps has room for him to make an impact if healthy, but fantasy managers in redraft leagues don't need to hold onto Samuel at this point, especially with the fantasy playoffs fast approaching. You can't trust Samuel in a season-long lineup if he's back next week against Seattle.

Nov 21st · 01:40 PM
Curtis Samuel Has 'Small Chance' To Play

Washington Football Team wide receiver Curtis Samuel (groin) has a "small chance" to suit up against his former team, the Panthers, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com. Samuel has played in parts of two games this season; he totaled four touches for 19 yards in Week 4, then exited Week 5 early due to injury. He'll presumably test his groin during pregame warmups before the team makes a final decision. If he suits up, fantasy managers should view him as a WR5 this week. Otherwise, he'll sit out Sunday's game and likely return in Week 12 against Seattle.

Nov 19th · 06:32 PM
Curtis Samuel Questionable For Week 11

Washington Football Team wide receiver Curtis Samuel (groin) is listed as questionable for Week 11 against the Carolina Panthers. "I promise you this, if or when he's out there, we will stick to that pitch count no matter what," head coach Ron Rivera said. The questionable tag is actually an improvement for Samuel, who has played in just two games this year and not since Week 5, with a groin injury that has been bothering him since the summer. Washington has avoided ending his season by placing him on Injured Reserve for a second time, but Samuel should remain on the waiver wire in your league until he can return and play more than just a handful of snaps. The absence of a true No. 2 wideout in this offense continues to hurt Terry McLaurin. McLaurin, Adam Humphries and DeAndre Carter should operate in most three-receiver sets Sunday, even if Samuel is active.

Nov 18th · 08:23 PM
Ricky Seals-Jones, Curtis Samuel Out Again Thursday

Washington Football Team tight end Ricky Seals-Jones (hip) and wide receiver Curtis Samuel (groin) both missed practice again on Thursday and are trending in the wrong direction for Week 11 against the Carolina Panthers. Seals-Jones has been adequate filling in for Logan Thomas (hamstring) the last six games, but if he's not available this weekend, Washington will be down to rookie John Bates and Sammis Reyes at the position. Samuel hasn't practiced since aggravating a troublesome groin injury on Oct. 10 and has played in only two games in his first year in D.C. The 25-year-old is trending towards a second trip to Injured Reserve, which would knock him out for the rest of the year. DeAndre Carter has stepped up recently as the team's No. 3 wideout.

Nov 17th · 05:41 PM
Ricky Seals-Jones, Curtis Samuel Not Practicing

Washington Football Team tight end Ricky Seals-Jones (hip) and wide receiver Curtis Samuel (groin) were not present for practice on Wednesday. Seals-Jones has been the team's primary pass-catching tight end with Logan Thomas (hamstring) on Injured Reserve, but he's now questionable to play in Week 11 against the Carolina Panthers. With Thomas not close to a return, rookie John Bates and Sammis Reyes would be next in line at the position for Washington. Samuel's groin injury has been bothering him since the summer and has kept him out of all but two games this season. There's a chance that he goes on IR for the second time this season, which would keep him out for the rest of the year. DeAndre Carter has emerged as the third wideout for Washington behind Terry McLaurin and Adam Humphries.

Nov 12th · 06:06 PM
Curtis Samuel Ruled Out Again In Week 10

Washington Football Team wide receiver Curtis Samuel (groin) has been ruled out yet again in Week 10 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Samuel was signed this offseason with plans that he'd be the No. 2 receiver behind Terry McLaurin, but that hasn't panned out, as Samuel has played in just two games and hasn't been active since Week 5. If his injury doesn't improve sometime soon, he may be forced to go on Injured Reserve for the second time this season. He has four catches on five targets for just 19 yards in his two games played. With Samuel out yet again, Adam Humphries will continue to serve as the No. 2 wideout in Washington.

Nov 12th · 01:52 AM
Curtis Samuel Misses Another Practice

Washington Football Team wide receiver Curtis Samuel (groin) remained out of practice for the second time this week on Thursday. Samuel was evaluated by doctors on Thursday instead of practicing. The 25-year-old was supposed to be a big part of this offense in his first year in D.C., but instead he's played in only two games (Weeks 4 and 5) and has four catches on five targets for 19 yards. It's an injury that has bothered Samuel since the summer, and he doesn't appear close to returning after already spending one stint on Injured Reserve to open the season. DeAndre Carter and rookie Dyami Brown should continue battling for reps as the No. 3 receiver behind Terry McLaurin and Adam Humphries.

Nov 10th · 11:28 PM
Curtis Samuel Still Not Practicing

Washington Football Team wide receiver Curtis Samuel (groin) wasn't able to get on the practice field on Wednesday in the team's first practice following their bye. It's pretty surprising that Samuel isn't on Injured Reserve for the second time this season at this point. It's an injury that the 25-year-old has been dealing with since the summer, and he hasn't played since Week 5. With no return on the horizon, he can remain firmly on the waiver wire in most fantasy leagues. Behind top receiver Terry McLaurin, Adam Humphries has been the team's No. 2 with 20 catches for 220 yards on 29 targets, well behind McLaurin's team-leading 76 targets. DeAndre Carter and rookie Dyami Brown will continue to battle for work as the No. 3 with Samuel sidelined.

Oct 29th · 04:56 PM
Curtis Samuel, Dyami Brown Ruled Out

Washington Football Team wide receivers Curtis Samuel (groin) and Dyami Brown (knee) have both been ruled out for Week 8 against the Denver Broncos. Samuel's groin injury has bothered him since June, and he's played in just two games in his first year in D.C. A second Injured Reserve stint may be coming. Brown, a third-round rookie, was injured in the Week 7 loss to the Green Bay Packers. He's had a limited role in his six games, catching eight passes on 20 targets for only 81 yards. Neither Samuel or Brown are on the fantasy radar in redraft leagues at the moment. DeAndre Carter should continue to serve as the No. 3 wideout for Washington behind Terry McLaurin and Adam Humphries.

Oct 28th · 09:14 PM
Curtis Samuel, Dyami Brown Miss Another Practice Thursday

Washington Football Team wide receivers Curtis Samuel (groin) and Dyami Brown (knee) missed practice for the second straight day on Thursday. Samuel has been bothered by his groin injury since June and has only played in two games in his first season in Washington. If he doesn't improve soon, he'll be a candidate to land on Injured Reserve for the second time this season. Brown, a 21-year-old rookie, was injured in the Week 7 loss to the Green Bay Packers and doesn't look likely to play on Sunday against the Denver Broncos. Terry McLaurin and Adam Humphries will continue to operate as the team's top two receivers in Week 8, and fantasy managers in single-year leagues can continue to avoid both Samuel and Brown.

Oct 28th · 12:48 AM
Curtis Samuel, Dyami Brown Not Practicing

Washington Football Team wide receivers Curtis Samuel (groin) and Dyami Brown (knee) remained out of practice on Wednesday. Samuel's groin injury has been bothering him since June, and he's played in only two games in his first season in D.C., catching four of his five targets for just 19 yards. If the 25-year-old doesn't make some improvements soon, he could be a candidate to go on Injured Reserve, which would cause him to miss at least another three games. Brown's injury is believed to be minor, but he's not a lock to play in Week 8 against the Denver Broncos. The 21-year-old third-round rookie played only 14% of the offensive snaps last week due to his injury and wasn't targeted at all. Both Samuel and Brown are off the fantasy radar in standard-sized leagues.

Oct 22nd · 04:52 PM
Curtis Samuel To Miss Another Game

Washington Football Team wide receivers Curtis Samuel (groin) and Cam Sims (hamstring) have been ruled out for Week 7 against the Green Bay Packers. Right guard Brandon Scherff (knee) will also miss another game. Samuel has been dealing with the same groin issue since June. He made his season debut in Week 4 but aggravated the injury in Week 5 and will now miss his second straight game. Fantasy managers were expecting Samuel to have a big role in Washington's offense in his first year in D.C., but he just hasn't been able to stay healthy. Terry McLaurin and Adam Humphries should continue to serve as the team's top two receivers, with rookie Dyami Brown and DeAndre Carter battling for targets as the No. 3 against Green Bay.

Oct 21st · 10:06 PM
Curtis Samuel Not Looking Good For Week 7

Washington Football Team wide receivers Curtis Samuel (groin) and Cam Sims (hamstring) were both absent from practice for the second straight day on Thursday. Samuel made his season debut in Week 4, but he aggravated a groin injury that's plagued him since June in Week 5 and sat out last Sunday's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Unless he makes big progress on Friday, it's likely that he'll miss yet another game in Week 7 against the Green Bay Packers. Sims has missed the last two games and is well off the fantasy radar. Until Samuel proves he can get back on the field and stay healthy, he can be left to the waiver wire in standard-sized leagues. Terry McLaurin and Adam Humphries should remain Washington's top two receivers, with rookie Dyami Brown and DeAndre Carter jostling for snaps as the No. 3.

Oct 20th · 07:04 PM
Curtis Samuel Not Practicing Wednesday

Washington Football Team wide receivers Curtis Samuel (groin) and Cam Sims (hamstring) did not take part in practice on Wednesday. Samuel didn't make his season debut until Week 4 and then aggravated his groin in Week 5, causing him to miss last Sunday's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. The 25-year-old was supposed to be a big part of this offense in his first season in D.C., but he just hasn't been able to get past his groin issue. Samuel has only four catches for 19 yards in his two games and can be left to the waiver wire until he can get back on the field and produce. Sims has missed the last two weeks and has only two grabs on three targets for 32 yards in four games played in 2021.

Oct 15th · 06:27 PM
Curtis Samuel Out In Week 6

Washington Football Team wide receiver Curtis Samuel (groin) has been ruled out in Week 6 against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Washington offense could be extremely short-handed in this game, as Terry McLaurin (hamstring) popped up on the injury report on Friday. There could be a huge opportunity for the likes of Adam Humphries and Ricky Seals-Jones, who Taylor Heinicke has seemed gravitate towards to. Moving forward, Samuel can be held onto into deeper leagues but shouldn't be counted on as a starter anytime soon. In shallower leagues with limited IR spots, it is safe to drop the 25-year-old if better options pop up on the waiver wire.

Oct 14th · 04:48 PM
Curtis Samuel A No-Show Again Thursday

Washington Football Team wide receiver Curtis Samuel (groin) remained out of practice on Thursday during the media-viewing portion. Samuel has been dealing with this same groin injury since training camp. He finally made his season debut in Week 4, but he aggravated the groin on Sunday and is now in danger of missing another game this weekend against the Kansas City Chiefs. The 25-year-old caught all four of his targets for only 19 yards in Week 4. Samuel was expected to be a big part of this offense in his first season in D.C., but that hasn't transpired due to his injury. If he were to miss another game, Terry McLaurin and Adam Humphries would be the top two receivers yet again. Rookie wide receiver Dyami Brown (knee) and wideout Cam Sims (hamstring) could also be returning after sitting out in Week 5.

Oct 13th · 07:07 PM
Antonio Gibson, Curtis Samuel Not Practicing

Washington Football Team running back Antonio Gibson (shin) and wide receiver Curtis Samuel (groin) did not practice on Wednesday. Gibson is dealing with a hairline fracture in his shin but has been playing through it, carrying the ball 20 times for 60 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 5 loss to the New Orleans Saints. This could become a routine for him sitting out practices early in the week to manage the injury. He'll remain a low-end RB1 for Week 6 against the Chiefs. Samuel, on the other hand, is week-to-week after aggravating his ongoing groin issue in his season debut on Sunday. DeAndre Carter stepped up with Samuel going down, playing 69.9% of the snaps and catching four of his eight targets for 62 yards. He could serve as the third receiver behind Terry McLaurin and Adam Humphries if Samuel is forced to miss yet another game.

Oct 12th · 03:48 PM
Curtis Samuel Listed As Week-To-Week

Washington Football Team wide receiver Curtis Samuel (groin) is listed as week-to-week after re-aggravating his groin injury in Sunday's loss to the New Orleans Saints. Head coach Ron Rivera said, "we're just going to be smart with it, and hopefully he'll be ready to go." It is unlikely he plays Sunday, so Adam Humphries and Ricky Seals-Jones could be in for some more targets against a suspect Kansas City defense. For now, Samuel can be stashed on benches in deeper leagues, but at this point, he can find his way onto the waiver wire in shallower formats. Upon his return, whenever that may be, he should see enough work to provide WR4 numbers.

Are NFL Trade Rumor Covered in the Player News?
Yes! As you can see from this Julio Jones write up from his player page, we updated his news section as soon as the news broke.
“The Atlanta Falcons are not expected to trade quarterback Matt Ryan this offseason, according to sources. “The Falcons have not had any trade conversations about Ryan or their star wide receiver Julio Jones. And every expectation is both players are going to be on the roster in 2021,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero said. New head coach Arthur Smith plans to run a similar offense to the one Kyle Shanahan used when Ryan won MVP in 2016. Atlanta would be on the hook for more than $44 million in dead money in 2021 if they traded Ryan before June 1. Atlanta may decide to take Ryan’s heir-apparent at No. 4 overall in the draft, but the 35-year-old signal-caller is expected to stay put for at least another season. Ryan and Jones got it going to end the regular season and could be in line for bounce-back campaigns under Smith in 2021. Consider Ryan a midrange QB1 heading into next season.”
