Darnell Mooney Delivers Again Against Lions

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney caught five passes for 123 yards in the Bears 16-14 win over the Lions in Week 12. The Bears snapped their five-game losing streak thanks to Mooney eclipsing 100 yards receiving for the second straight week. With teammate Allen Robinson II sidelined for a second game with a hamstring injury, Mooney led the team with eight targets and was a threat down the field throughout the game. With veteran starter Andy Dalton in the lineup, Mooney's value feels to have more stability. But if rookie Justin Fields returns next week against the Cardinals, Mooney will be a riskier fantasy selection due to the Fields inconsistent play.

Darnell Mooney - Week 12 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney is expected to once again be the primary receiving threat in Week 12 against the Lions. Mooney delivered a monster stat-line last week against the Ravens, catching five of his 15 targets for 121 yards and one touchdown. With veteran receiver Allen Robinson II out for a second straight week with a hamstring injury, Mooney should continue to see a high volume of targets. The Lions have allowed nine different receivers this season to post 10 or more fantasy points against them, a number Mooney could easily clear Thanksgiving morning.

Nov 24th · 09:20 PM
Darnell Mooney Will Play On Turkey Day

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney (foot) was limited in practice all week but was taken off the final injury report for Week 12 and will play on Thanksgiving on Thursday against the Detroit Lions. Mooney has scored in back-to-back games and had five catches on a season-high 16 targets for 121 yards and a touchdown with Allen Robinson II (hamstring) out of action last weekend. Robinson is doubtful to play again this week, so Mooney will be quarterback Andy Dalton's top target against the winless Lions. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect another 16-target game, but Mooney will certainly have WR2 upside with Dalton under center in a great matchup.

Nov 24th · 11:12 AM
Darnell Mooney Remains Limited Tuesday

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney (foot) was listed as a limited participant in Tuesday's estimated practice report. This week, the 24-year-old has been limited with a foot issue but is expected to be available for the Thanksgiving game against the Detroit Lions. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor the situation and keep an eye out for Wednesday's injury report. He's coming one off one of his best games of the season, catching five passes for 121 yards and a touchdown in the Week 11 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. The Bears wide receiver has now hit paydirt in two straight games. Mooney is a borderline WR2 against a woeful Lions defense in Week 12.

Darnell Mooney Listed As Limited Monday

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney (foot) was listed as a limited participant on Monday's estimated practice report. With Allen Robinson II (hamstring) inactive in Week 11, Mooney led the team with five catches on a season-high 16 targets for 121 yards and a touchdown in the loss to the Baltimore Ravens. It was his second 100-yard game of the year and his second touchdown of the year. If Robinson cannot return this Thursday against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving, Mooney will be an upside WR3/flex with veteran quarterback Andy Dalton expected to start under center with rookie Justin Fields (ribs) injured. The Bears will be facing the winless Lions to kick off the Thanksgiving slate of games.

Darnell Mooney Delivers Huge Performance

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney caught five passes for 121 yards with one touchdown in the Bears 16-13 loss to the Ravens in Week 11. Mooney was the featured receiver with Allen Robinson II on the sidelines with a hamstring injury. Mooney caught a screen pass and took it to the house for a 60-yard touchdown and racked up a whopping 16 targets in the game. If Robinson isn't ready by Thanksgiving, Mooney will carry intriguing WR2/3 value against the Lions this Thursday.

Nov 19th · 08:19 PM
Darnell Mooney, Damien Williams Will Play

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney (foot) and running back Damien Williams (knee) will both play in Week 11 against the Baltimore Ravens after being taken off the final injury report. Mooney has been Chicago's most productive wideout in this low-volume passing attack in 2021, and he should see even more looks on Sunday with Allen Robinson II (hamstring) doubtful to play. Mooney will be an upside WR3/flex. Williams hasn't played since Week 8 and will return as the team's No. 3 back behind David Montgomery and rookie Khalil Herbert. Chicago's backfield is completely healthy for this tilt with Baltimore, but Williams has zero fantasy appeal with both Montgomery and Herbert ahead of him.

Nov 18th · 12:23 AM
Darnell Mooney, Damien Williams Limited Wednesday

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney (foot) and running back Damien Williams (knee) were both limited in practice on Wednesday. It's not great to see Mooney still dealing with an injury coming out of the team's bye, but unless he has a setback later this week, he should be good to play on Sunday against a Baltimore Ravens secondary that has allowed a ton of big plays this year. With Allen Robinson II struggling to connect with rookie quarterback Justin Fields, Mooney has essentially become the best Bears pass-catcher. But Mooney has only two touchdowns and will be a WR4/flex in Week 11 in this low-volume passing attack. Williams has a chance to return after missing the Week 9 game, but if he does, he'll be third on the totem pole behind David Montgomery and rookie Khalil Herbert.

Darnell Mooney Scores Two Touchdowns Against Steelers

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney caught three passes for 41 yards, one touchdown and a 15-yard touchdown run in the team's 29-27 loss to the Steelers in Week 9. Mooney delivered when it mattered most, taking an end-around for 15 yards to get the Bears back into the game in the second half. Then rookie quarterback Justin Fields found Mooney on a red zone scramble for a go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter. The Bears passing offense ranks at the bottom of the league in numerous categories but Fields is beginning to find his footing in the NFL. Mooney will be on Bye next week but could be a player whose production may rise over the next month beginning in Week 11 against the Ravens.

Nov 9th · 12:09 AM
Darnell Mooney Active Against Steelers

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney (groin) is active on Monday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers to close out Week 9 action. Mooney popped up on the injury report in practice on Friday, but the 24-year-old will be good to go in primetime. Mooney has developed some decent chemistry with rookie first-round quarterback Justin Fields, but this is a low-volume passing attack that ranks dead-last in the NFL in passing yards per game (127.4). Mooney did have six catches on a season-high nine targets for 64 yards in Week 8, but he has just one 100-yard game and one touchdown in eight games in 2021. There are usually better WR4/flex options with more upside on a weekly basis.

Nov 6th · 08:28 PM
Darnell Mooney Questionable For Monday Night

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney (groin) was limited in practice for the second straight day on Saturday and is questionable for Week 9 against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night. Mooney popped up on the injury report on Friday with an injury that he's been dealing with off and on in 2021. The 24-year-old has been more productive than Allen Robinson with rookie quarterback Justin Fields taking over, but he still hasn't done a ton with 33 catches (53 targets) for 409 yards and one touchdown in the worst passing offense in the NFL. At best, Mooney is a low-upside WR4/flex in deeper leagues. If he doesn't play Monday, Marquise Goodwin would likely serve as Chicago's No. 2 wideout.

Nov 6th · 01:18 AM
Darnell Mooney Pops Up On Injury Report Friday

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney (groin) was added to the team's Week 9 injury report on Friday after he got in a limited practice. Mid-week injuries are usually never a good thing, but the fact that Mooney was still able to practice on a limited basis is a good sign. It's an injury that the 24-year-old has played through for portions of this season, but he could be questionable on Saturday's final injury report for Monday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mooney has been more productive than Allen Robinson II with rookie quarterback Justin Fields leading the offense, but Chicago's low-volume passing attack makes it hard to trust Mooney, too, as a WR3/flex against a Steelers defense that has allowed the fewest fantasy points to receivers in the last three weeks.

Nov 4th · 08:10 PM
Darnell Mooney - Week 9 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney will take on a Steelers defense that is allowing the 10th most fantasy points to opposing receivers. Mooney has emerged as rookie quarterback Justin Fields favorite target over the past few weeks, averaging 7.3 targets over his last three games. Mooney hasn't had much to show for it in terms of production but may represent the Bears only hope to make something happen vertically against the Steelers. Mooney has supplanted teammate Allen Robinson II as the WR1 currently in the offense and his fantasy value will be boom-or-bust in Week 9.

Oct 31st · 10:41 PM
Darnell Mooney Leads Bears With 64 Receiving Yards

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney caught a team-high six passes for 64 yards in the Bears loss to the 49ers in Week 8. Mooney was targeted nine times and is building more on-field chemistry with rookie quarterback Justin Fields by the week. The second-year receiver had a deep pass bounce off his outstretched fingers in the final moments in the game but posted a solid performance. Mooney's fantasy value is tied to a Bears vertical passing game that ranks dead-last in many offensive categories at present. He lacks fantasy appeal in standard formats but could be seen as a possible FLEX-play in full-PPR formats in Week 9 against the Steelers.

Oct 28th · 07:18 PM
Darnell Mooney - Week 8 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney will take on a 49ers secondary that is allowing the 14th fewest fantasy points to opposing receivers. It has been a disappointing start to Mooney's season but, then again, the Bears are averaging a league-worst 124 passing yards a game. The 49ers have allowed seven touchdowns to opposing receivers this season and 12 different wideouts have posted at least seven fantasy points against them. Mooney delivering in fantasy for Week 8 will be a very risky proposition in an offense that simply cannot move the ball vertically right now.

Oct 25th · 12:47 AM
Darnell Mooney Musters Only 39 Yards Against Bucs

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney caught only two passes for 39 yards in the team's loss to the Buccaneers 38-3 in Week 7. The Bears offense endured a catastrophic day and one of Mooney's five targets slipped through his fingers and led to an interception. The Bears offense has seen success, at times, running the football but dropping back to pass has been a disaster. Mooney is capable of posting WR3/4 numbers but the ineptitude in the Bears vertical attack at this time should keep him on fantasy benches until further notice.

Oct 22nd · 05:28 PM
Darnell Mooney - Week 7 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney will go up against a Buccaneers defense in Week 7 that is allowing the seventh most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers. Mooney, once again, was limited in practice on Thursday with a groin injury but that designation has become a weekly occurrence. The 23-year-old's season is off to a disappointing start, totaling only 306 yards through the first six games. Mooney's targets are on the rise and is averaging 6.66 targets a game over his last three played. Tampa Bay's secondary has allowed 10 different receivers to post seven or more fantasy points against them but Mooney's floor should make fantasy teams hesitant in Week 7.

Oct 18th · 03:52 AM
Darnell Mooney Catches First Touchdown Of Season

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney caught five passes for 45 yards with one touchdown in the team's 24-14 loss to the Packers in Week 6. Mooney was targeted a team-high eight times and brought the Bears within a field goal in the fourth quarter with a five-yard touchdown catch from rookie quarterback Justin Fields. Mooney has shown a solid rapport with the young passer but the vertical game from the Bears offense has been inconsistent, at best, with Fields under center. Mooney is worth a bench stash in deeper formats but will be a risky fantasy option in Week 7.

Oct 13th · 11:31 PM
Damien Williams, Darnell Mooney Limited Wednesday

Chicago Bears running back Damien Williams (foot, knee) and wide receiver Darnell Mooney (groin) were both limited in practice on Wednesday. Williams was the popular waiver-wire pickup last week after David Montgomery (knee) went down with a multi-week knee injury, and he responded by carrying the ball 16 times for 64 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Rookie Khalil Herbert actually had two more carries for 75 yards in the win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Williams is expected to be the go-to back for the Bears with Montgomery out, but Herbert could once again have a big role in Week 6 against the Green Bay Packers if Williams is limited or out. Williams will be an RB2 if he plays, but Herbert could have standalone RB3/flex appeal in deeper leagues as well. Mooney has been a steady No. 2 target for the Bears, but he has yet to find the end zone. There will be WR4/flex appeal against the Packers this week, especially if Allen Robinson II (ankle) is limited.

Oct 13th · 08:18 PM
Darnell Mooney - Week 6 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney will go up against a Packers defense in Week 6 that is allowing the 11th fewest fantasy points to opposing receivers. Mooney posted 125 yards in Week 4 but crashed back to earth last week with only 35 yards. Mooney has the speed and talent to be a dynamic playmaker but the Bears have opted for a run-heavy offensive scheme as rookie quarterback Justin Fields develops. Mooney is worth a roster spot but can't be trusted in fantasy starting lineups to produce in Week 6.

Oct 11th · 12:02 AM
Darnell Mooney Tallies 35 Yards

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney caught three passes for a team-high 35 yards in the Bears 20-9 win over the Raiders. One week after Mooney exploded for 125 yards, he was unable to spring free for a downfield strike. Mooney saw five targets in the game but none more important than a 13-yard reception on 3rd-and-12 in the fourth quarter to move the chains. The Bears are beginning to develop a run-heavy mentality on offense which should keep Mooney's fantasy value in check moving forward.

Oct 6th · 08:42 PM
Can Darnell Mooney Deliver Encore?

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney will try and build off his huge Week 4 performance heading into this weekend's matchup against the Raiders. Mooney delivered five catches for 125 yards in the team's 24-14 win over the Lions and connected deep with rookie quarterback Justin Fields multiple times for huge gains. The Bears have named Fields the full-time starter moving forward, which is excellent news for those who have Mooney on their fantasy rosters. The Raiders are allowing the seventh fewest fantasy points to opposing receivers this season but speedy receivers have been able to burn them at times. Mooney's value is on the rise and will carry a WR4/5 value, with a huge ceiling, heading into Week 5.

Oct 3rd · 09:10 PM
Darnell Mooney Explodes For 125 Yards

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney caught five passes for a team-high 125 yards in the Bears 24-14 win over the Lions in Week 4. This was the performance Bears fans were waiting for as Mooney was dynamic in the downfield passing game. His speed was a problem for the Lions secondary and hauled in some beautiful passes from rookie quarterback Justin Fields. Mooney has the talent to post numbers like this but whether the Bears offense is consistent enough to perform like this against better opponents will continue to make Mooney a risky play at this time.

Oct 3rd · 04:21 PM
Darnell Mooney Active For Week 4

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney (groin) is active for Sunday's meeting with the Detroit Lions. The Lions allow the 18th-most fantasy points to wide receivers, plus the Bears are starting rookie quarterback Justin Fields, who threw for just 68 yards last week. Those two things taken together mean that fantasy managers should probably avoid playing Mooney as much as possible this week.

Oct 2nd · 01:45 AM
Darnell Mooney Questionable For Week 4

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney (groin) is listed as questionable for a Week 4 meeting with the Detroit Lions. Mooney practiced on a limited basis all week and is expected to play, but that doesn't mean he should be in fantasy lineups. The 23-year-old fought through injury in the Week 3 loss to the Cleveland Browns and had just one catch with rookie quarterback Justin Fields falling flat in his first NFL start. Quarterback Andy Dalton (knee) is no sure thing to return in Week 4 against the Lions, but Mooney would become a bit more attractive as a deep-league flex play if Dalton were in there. Mooney has played the most snaps (95.5 percent) of any Bears receiver this year, but he has only 12 catches for 101 yards to show for it through three games.

Are NFL Trade Rumor Covered in the Player News?
Yes! As you can see from this Julio Jones write up from his player page, we updated his news section as soon as the news broke.
“The Atlanta Falcons are not expected to trade quarterback Matt Ryan this offseason, according to sources. “The Falcons have not had any trade conversations about Ryan or their star wide receiver Julio Jones. And every expectation is both players are going to be on the roster in 2021,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero said. New head coach Arthur Smith plans to run a similar offense to the one Kyle Shanahan used when Ryan won MVP in 2016. Atlanta would be on the hook for more than $44 million in dead money in 2021 if they traded Ryan before June 1. Atlanta may decide to take Ryan’s heir-apparent at No. 4 overall in the draft, but the 35-year-old signal-caller is expected to stay put for at least another season. Ryan and Jones got it going to end the regular season and could be in line for bounce-back campaigns under Smith in 2021. Consider Ryan a midrange QB1 heading into next season.”
