Denzel Mims Quiet In Return

New York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims made his return to the field during the Week 13 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. He had missed each of the last three games and unfortunately barely made an impact in this game. Mims hauled in his lone target for four yards in the loss. It's somewhat surprising Mims didn't see more action with Corey Davis (groin) and Ryan Griffin (ankle) both exiting and not returning in this contest. That being said, Mims is off the fantasy radar for the Week 14 matchup against the New Orleans Saints. Clearly, the Jets don't believe in him, which makes sense considering he has 14 targets on the season.

Denzel Mims - Week 13 Outlook for Fantasy Football

New York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims could have an expanded for Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Corey Davis (groin) is questionable, and Keelan Cole Sr. was ruled out after being placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Mims, Jamison Crowder, and Elijah Moore are expected to be the Jets' top wideouts if Davis is out. This season, the 24-year-old has been limited to six games, catching seven passes for 129 yards. "All we want for him to do right now is go, line up, play as fast as you can. When the ball comes your way, you go make that play like we all know he can," said offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur. Even if Mims is starting in three-wide receiver sets, he's not fantasy-relevant against an Eagles defense that ranks 14th in DVOA against opponent's WR3s.

Denzel Mims Off COVID-19 List, Returns To Practice

New York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims has been activated from the Reserve/COVID-19 list and returned to practice on Wednesday. Mims has missed the team's last three games and could have a bigger role in the offense with Keelan Cole now on the COVID-19 list and Corey Davis (groin) potentially missing his second straight game this Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. However, in six games played this year, Mims has only seven catches for 129 yards on 14 targets and would likely be the No. 4 receiver behind rookie Elijah Moore, Jamison Crowder and Braxton Berrios if Davis is inactive. Fantasy managers should continue to ignore the disappointing second-year receiver.

Nov 19th · 05:22 PM
Denzel Mims' Availability In Doubt

New York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims' availability for Week 11 against the Miami Dolphins is "in doubt," according to head coach Robert Saleh. Mims has returned one negative COVID-19 test but needs one more in order to be activated from the Reserve/COVID-19 list and play this Sunday. The 24-year-old was not eligible to play in last week's loss to the Buffalo Bills and could miss his second straight game in Week 11. Mims continues to be an afterthought in the Jets offense when active, and he remains behind the likes of Corey Davis, Elijah Moore, Jamison Crowder and Keelan Cole on the receiving depth chart. You should only be stashing the second-year pass-catcher in dynasty leagues at this point.

Denzel Mims Placed On COVID-19 List

The New York Jets placed wide receiver Denzel Mims on the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Tuesday. If Mims is vaccinated, he'll need two negative tests 24 hours apart in order to play in Week 10 against the Buffalo Bills. If he's unvaccinated, he'll be quarantined for 10 days and will miss this weekend. The 24-year-old has been a disappointment in his second year in the NFL, catching half of his 14 targets for 129 scoreless yards in six games played while battling drops. No. 1 wideout Corey Davis (hip) has missed the last two games, but he has a chance to return this Sunday. Rookie Elijah Moore has seen his stock rise recently after scoring his first two touchdowns last Thursday. Veteran Jamison Crowder will remain in the slot for Gang Green. Mims is well off the single-year fantasy radar.

Jets Remain Unwilling To Part With Denzel Mims

The New York Jets received trade calls about wide receiver Denzel Mims and continued to turn interested teams down, according to sources. The 24-year-old former second-rounder last year saw his first start of the season in the Week 8 win over the Cincinnati Bengals with Corey Davis (hip) sidelined, and Mims played a season-high 70% of the offensive snaps, but he still had just two catches on three targets for 30 yards. Mims has only six receptions for 109 yards in five games played in 2021 after catching 23 passes for 357 scoreless yards in nine games (eight starts) in his rookie campaign. Until he starts seeing a bigger role in this offense -- he ranks sixth among Jets wideouts with a 21.8% snap share on the season -- Mims is well off the radar in fantasy leagues.

Jamison Crowder, Denzel Mims Active On Sunday

New York Jets wide receivers Jamison Crowder (groin) and Denzel Mims are active in Week 4 against the Tennessee Titans. Crowder will be making his 2021 season debut after missing the first two games while on the COVID-19 list and last week with a groin injury that has been bothering him since training camp. The veteran slot man could become a valuable safety blanket for rookie quarterback Zach Wilson underneath, but there's a chance he's limited in his first game back, making him an extremely risky fantasy play. Mims had a 40-yard reception in the season opener, but he has been a healthy scratch the last two weeks. He finds his way back onto the field with both rookie Elijah Moore and Jeff Smith out with concussions. Mims has big-play ability, but he's too far down the pecking order to matter in fantasy right now.

Oct 1st · 04:27 PM
Jamison Crowder, Denzel Mims Expected To Play

New York Jets wide receivers Jamison Crowder (groin) and Denzel Mims are both expected to play in Week 4 against the Tennessee Titans, according to head coach Robert Saleh. Crowder will be making his season debut after dealing with COVID-19 and a groin injury that has plagued him since training camp. Mims has been a healthy scratch the last two games, but New York needs wide receivers with both rookie Elijah Moore and Jeff Smith ruled out with concussions. The veteran Crowder is the more attractive fantasy option in PPR leagues, but it's not realistic to expect him to be fantasy relevant in his season debut after a long layoff with a rookie quarterback at the helm.

Denzel Mims Not Expected To Play On Sunday

New York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims is expected to be a healthy scratch against the Broncos on Sunday. The second-year player out of Baylor caught one pass for 40 yards in Week 1 but was inactive against the Patriots last week. The Jets reportedly still believe in Mims, though evidently he's not at the point where they feel comfortable starting him despite an injury to Jamison Crowder (groin). It will be interesting to see how New York incorporates him into its offense throughout the 2021 season. For now, though, he's limited to the bench. He's only worth rostering in deeper dynasty formats.

Sep 25th · 04:30 PM
Jets Still Believe In Denzel Mims

New York Jets second-year wide receiver Denzel Mims has just one catch for 40 yards through two games, and he was a healthy scratch in the Week 2 loss to the New England Patriots. Because he doesn't play special teams, Mims must learn all the wideout positions if he wants to start on game day in a crowded receiver room. Teams have been calling to see if Mims is available via trade, but the Jets have turned them away. Even though Mims is on the outside looking in for more playing time in New York, the front office hasn't given up on him and still believe in his future. With Jamison Crowder (groin) doubtful to play in Week 3 against the Denver Broncos, Corey Davis, Braxton Berrios and rookie Elijah Moore should start in three-receiver sets. Mims will be a game-time decision as to whether he's active, but obviously he should be on the waiver wire in redraft leagues.

Sep 24th · 05:30 PM
Denzel Mims Will Be A Game-Time Decision

New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh said that wide receiver Denzel Mims will be a game-time decision in Week 3 against the Denver Broncos. Mims was a healthy inactive in the Week 2 loss to the New England Patriots, and Saleh basically said the reason was that Mims doesn't contribute on special teams. The second-rounder last year is just too buried on the receiver depth chart to matter in fantasy, with Corey Davis, Keelan Cole, Braxton Berrios and rookie Elijah Moore ahead of him. And veteran slot man Jamison Crowder (groin) could be make his season debut this weekend, too. Mims is athletic and physical, but he needs to do more to be active on game days. He caught his only target for 40 yards in the Week 1 loss to the Carolina Panthers.

Sep 20th · 09:20 PM
Denzel Mims Buried On Depth Chart

New York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims is currently the fifth wide receiver on the depth chart, and head coach Robert Saleh said that Mims was a healthy scratch in the Week 2 loss to the New England Patriots because he doesn't play special teams. And that was with veteran Jamison Crowder (groin) inactive on Sunday, so Mims is basically the sixth wideout behind Corey Davis, Crowder, Keelan Cole, Braxton Berrios and rookie Elijah Moore. Jeff Smith is the team's gunner on special teams, so even he was active over Mims. The second-rounder in 2020 played only three snaps in the season opener and caught just one pass for 40 yards in Week 1 with both Crowder and Cole out. At this point, it's becoming hard to justify holding Mims in even dynasty/keeper leagues.

Sep 19th · 03:53 PM
Denzel Mims A Healthy Week 2 Scratch

New York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims is a healthy scratch for the team's Week 2 contest against the New England Patriots. With Jamison Crowder (groin) inactive, it's a bit of a surprise that Mims won't at least be active, but the Jets will have Keelan Cole (knee) this week. Mims not being able to crack the rotation even when the team is dealing with injuries is a bad sign for the second-year receiver, who had a 40-yard catch last week but also played just three offensive snaps against Carolina. He shouldn't be rostered in redraft leagues.

Sep 18th · 01:56 AM
Denzel Mims Could Struggle To Receive Reps

New York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims could have a tough time receiving reps during Sunday's Week 2 contest against the Patriots, according to offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur. The potential returns of Keelan Cole Sr. and Jamison Crowder coupled with Mims' absence at OTAs and minicamp significantly factor into the amount of reps he can expect. The 23-year-old played five percent of snaps last week, hauling in his lone target for 40 yards. Through nine games as a rookie last year, he caught 23 passes for 357 yards. You can comfortably leave him on waivers in all redraft leagues.

Sep 8th · 10:40 PM
Michael Carter, Denzel Mims Good To Go

New York Jets rookie running back Michael Carter and wide receiver Denzel Mims (hip) aren't listed on the official injury report ahead of Week 1 against the Carolina Panthers. Carter, a fourth-round pick, missed some training camp practices with an undisclosed injury and finished on a low note in the preseason after some early hype. Carter is expected to have a role in the season-opener, but just how big of a role is anyone's guess. Veteran Tevin Coleman and Ty Johnson will also be involved in what is likely to be a committee approach, at least early in the season. As a result, none of the three backs are all that intriguing in fantasy until we have a better picture of how the touches will be divided up. Mims is healthy to start the year, but playing time will be a concern with Jamison Crowder, Corey Davis and second-rounder Elijah Moore ahead of him. Mims should be on the waiver wire in standard-sized leagues to begin 2021.

Aug 20th · 06:04 PM
Denzel Mims Remains Day-To-Day

New York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims (hip) is reportedly day-to-day, but will hopefully be able to play in Saturday's second preseason matchup. Mims has not exactly been a reliable option for the Jets. He was disappointing during his rookie season and will likely be the No. 3 option heading into the season. The Jets normally use a run-heavy offensive scheme, which isn't a good sign for Mims. He could have some deep league value or a dynasty stash, but don't expect big numbers from Mims right away.

Aug 19th · 06:28 PM
Denzel Mims Avoids Major Injury

New York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims (undisclosed) left practice early on Thursday but has avoided major injury according to team reporter Brian Costello. With all things considered, the 23-year-old showed some promise in his rookie season, putting up 23 receptions for 357 yards with no touchdowns. The former Baylor standout appeared to be primed for a larger role in 2021, but then Corey Davis and Elijah Moore were added to the mix. Mims will at best be the third option in the passing game in a run-heavy offensive scheme, so he likely doesn't have much fantasy value in redraft leagues. In dynasty leagues, he could be an intriguing option to stash on your roster.

Aug 16th · 02:37 AM
Denzel Mims Plays Well In Preseason Opener

New York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims was probably the last player you'd expect to play well right now. He has been sidelined in recent practices and trade rumors have been swirling around as well. The former second round pick from 2020 struggled in limited time with the team last season. Since then, the Jets have improved their receiver group, which has pushed Mims down on the depth chart. However, he recorded three receptions for a team-high 51 yards in the preseason opener versus the New York Giants. Mims is beginning to show flashes of his potential. Although, Mims will need another strong performance or two before he legitimately could move up the depth chart. Right now, he is a deep league stash with decent upside.

Jul 29th · 06:17 PM
Denzel Mims Working Exclusively With The Second Team

New York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims has yet to take a first-team rep through two training camp practices, signaling that the new coaching staff may be down on the second-year wideout. Mims, who starred at Baylor, is a great athlete whom many draft analysts considered to be a receiver with significant upside, but he's yet to refine his game enough to make a significant impact. Mims's skill set as a potential deep-ball threat who can go up and get it would seem to fit well with Zach Wilson's tendencies coming out of BYU, so he's worth keeping a close eye on as camp progresses. Mims is a late-round dart throw in drafts right now, but that could change with an injury to a fellow wideout or positive news out of camp in the coming weeks.

Jun 26th · 05:55 PM
Denzel Mims Not A Great Fit For New Offense

New York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims will have to earn a starting role in training camp. The second-round pick in 2020 dealt with injuries in his rookie campaign and played in just nine games. Mims' overall stat line wasn't anything special, but he did flash an eye-popping 15.5 yards per catch. He missed some time with an illness during spring practice and was relegated to the second team when he was on the field. Corey Davis and Keelan Cole/Elijah Moore are the team's top receivers on the outside, while veteran Jamison Crowder is expected to start in the slot. Mims (6-foot-3, 215 pounds) is at his best as a deep threat that excels at contested catches down the field, but deep shots aren't a staple of this offense. The Jets would like to see Mims improve on inside routes which require more precise route-running and intermediate routes. He'll have a chance to prove himself in training camp, but Mims is nothing more than a deep league bench stash in Year 2.

Denzel Mims Hopeful To Finish On A High Note

New York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims failed to haul in either of his targets during the Week 16 win over the Cleveland Browns. However, the second-round rookie has played fairly well most weeks. Hopefully he'll be able to finish out the regular season on a high note against the New England Patriots in Week 17. Although, that could be tough considering the Patriots have a top tier secondary. It's best to avoid Mims in most formats this week.

Dec 27th · 10:48 PM
Denzel Mims Does Nothing Versus Browns

New York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims has been a nice bright spot for this offense thus far. However, he failed to do anything against the Cleveland Browns in Week 16. Mims was targeted twice and didn't haul in either of them during the win. This was a career-low in targets for Mims, but it's unlikely that he bounces back next week. The New England Patriots have a solid secondary. Mims might be a desperation flex option at best next week.

Dec 27th · 06:38 AM
Denzel Mims Has Low-End Flex Appeal

New York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims has been one of the few bright spots in what has been a lost season. Mims has recorded 22 receptions for 342 yards since making his debut in Week 7. Sadly, Mims has seen his production decline ever since Sam Darnold went back under center. Although, there is some upside here against the shaky Cleveland Browns secondary in Week 16. Mims might be able to provide low-end flex appeal in PPR formats.

Dec 21st · 04:47 AM
Denzel Mims Hauls In Three Receptions

New York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims was fairly quiet in Week 15. He hauled in three of his four targets for 18 yards in the win over the Los Angeles Rams. Mims has seen his production decline with quarterback Sam Darnold under center. He looked like a much better fantasy option with Joe Flacco, which is not a sentence that is said often. Possibly, Mims can get back on track against the struggling Cleveland Browns Defense in Week 16. However, he'll likely be a WR4 in PPR formats for that one.

Dec 18th · 07:13 PM
Denzel Mims A Low-End PPR Option

New York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims has been a popular option in the passing game over the last few weeks. He has seen 36 targets since making his NFL debut in Week 7. Sadly, Mims was unable to play last week, but is expected to suit up versus the Los Angeles Rams in Week 15. This defense has been strong against the passing game this season, so it's unlikely that Mims does much damage. He might be able to provide low-end flex appeal in PPR formats.

Are NFL Trade Rumor Covered in the Player News?
Yes! As you can see from this Julio Jones write up from his player page, we updated his news section as soon as the news broke.
“The Atlanta Falcons are not expected to trade quarterback Matt Ryan this offseason, according to sources. “The Falcons have not had any trade conversations about Ryan or their star wide receiver Julio Jones. And every expectation is both players are going to be on the roster in 2021,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero said. New head coach Arthur Smith plans to run a similar offense to the one Kyle Shanahan used when Ryan won MVP in 2016. Atlanta would be on the hook for more than $44 million in dead money in 2021 if they traded Ryan before June 1. Atlanta may decide to take Ryan’s heir-apparent at No. 4 overall in the draft, but the 35-year-old signal-caller is expected to stay put for at least another season. Ryan and Jones got it going to end the regular season and could be in line for bounce-back campaigns under Smith in 2021. Consider Ryan a midrange QB1 heading into next season.”
