Elijah Moore, Jeff Smith Miss Practice Wednesday

New York Jets wide receivers Elijah Moore (concussion) and Jeff Smith (concussion) both missed practice on Wednesday. Smith was in a car crash on his way to the team's facility on Wednesday. Both players will need to be cleared from the league's concussion protocol in order to play in Week 4 against the Tennessee Titans. Smith is mostly a special teams player (just four targets), while Moore is third on the team with his 18 targets, behind Corey Davis and Braxton Berrios. There's a lot to like about the rookie second-rounder, but it's hard to justify holding him in standard 12-team leagues with his head injury and the fact that Jamison Crowder (groin) is closer to making his season debut.

Jeff Smith An Unfavorable Option Versus Patriots

New York Jets wide receiver Jeff Smith has seen plenty of targets, but has been unable to capitalize on his chances. This season, Smith has hauled in 14 of his 33 targets, which is quite sad. The Jets continue to throw it his way expecting different results. He'll be a tough player to trust against the tough New England Patriots secondary. The Jets receivers are getting healthy, so Smith should see his targets drop significantly going forward.

Jeff Smith Heavily Targeted Versus Chiefs

New York Jets wide receiver Jeff Smith was basically a non-factor in the Week 8 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. This offense was without Jamison Crowder (groin) and Breshad Perriman (head), so Smith saw plenty of targets. Sadly, he was only able to haul in three of his eight targets for 29 yards in the loss. Smith continues to fail when the ball is thrown his way. The Jets continue to give him chances for some reason, but fantasy owners shouldn't bother looking at him.

Jeff Smith Sees Rapid Decline In Value

New York Jets wide receiver Jeff Smith saw 20 total targets over a two week period, but was only able to haul in 10 of them. He saw an increased workload with Breshad Perriman (ankle) sidelined. However, last week Perriman returned, which means Smith saw his workload decrease heavily. Smith saw four targets and he only hauled in one of them for eight yards in the loss to the Miami Dolphins. It's unlikely that Smith carries much value against the Buffalo Bills in Week 7.

Jeff Smith Quiet In Loss

New York Jets wide receiver Jeff Smith was not able to do much damage during the Week 6 loss to the Miami Dolphins. He saw 20 total targets over the last two games coming into this one. However, Smith was only targeted four times here and hauled in one of them for eight yards. The return of Breshad Perriman basically killed all the momentum for Smith. He won't be on the fantasy radar for the Week 7 matchup against the Buffalo Bills.

Jeff Smith A Risky Option In Week 6

New York Jets wide receiver Jeff Smith has seen 20 total targets over the last two games. However, he has only hauled in 10 of them for 104 yards, so there hasn't been much fantasy value coming from Smith. He's getting plenty of targets with the Jets banged up, but Breshad Perriman (ankle) and Denzel Mims (hamstring) returned to practice this week. Smith has been unable to capitalize on his chances and will likely see his workload decrease going forward. He can be avoided in standard leagues and is a risky option in deep leagues for the Week 6 matchup with the Miami Dolphins.

Jeff Smith Targeted 11 Times In Week 5

New York Jets wide receiver Jeff Smith has seen his usage spike with Breshad Perriman (ankle) sidelined. He hauled in three of his 11 targets for 23 yards in the Week 5 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Smith has seen a total of 20 targets over the last two weeks. Sadly, he hasn't been able to do much damage with them. Perriman is expected to play in the Week 6 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. That would knock Smith off the fantasy radar going forward.

Are NFL Trade Rumor Covered in the Player News?
Yes! As you can see from this Julio Jones write up from his player page, we updated his news section as soon as the news broke.
“The Atlanta Falcons are not expected to trade quarterback Matt Ryan this offseason, according to sources. “The Falcons have not had any trade conversations about Ryan or their star wide receiver Julio Jones. And every expectation is both players are going to be on the roster in 2021,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero said. New head coach Arthur Smith plans to run a similar offense to the one Kyle Shanahan used when Ryan won MVP in 2016. Atlanta would be on the hook for more than $44 million in dead money in 2021 if they traded Ryan before June 1. Atlanta may decide to take Ryan’s heir-apparent at No. 4 overall in the draft, but the 35-year-old signal-caller is expected to stay put for at least another season. Ryan and Jones got it going to end the regular season and could be in line for bounce-back campaigns under Smith in 2021. Consider Ryan a midrange QB1 heading into next season.”
