Sammy Watkins Can't Get Anything Going In Week 11

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Sammy Watkins had just three grabs for 48 yards during the win over the Bears in Week 11. Lamar Jackson (illness) and Marquise Brown (thigh) didn't play, so the veteran was tasked with getting something going with Tyler Huntley starting under center. However, that didn't happen, and instead, Mark Andrews was the preferred option for the backup. Nonetheless, if Jackson is back for Sunday Night Football against the Browns in Week 12, Watkins fantasy outlook is more favorable, with it being higher if Brown misses another one.

Sammy Watkins Returning For Baltimore

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Sammy Watkins (hamstring) is active on Thursday night against the Miami Dolphins after missing the last three games. Watkins came into the game listed as questionable, but he was expected to return after practicing in full on Wednesday. The 28-year-old has recorded 18 receptions on 32 targets for 292 yards and no touchdowns in five games played in his first year in Baltimore, but he'll return as the likely No. 3 wideout behind Marquise Brown and rookie Rashod Bateman on Thursday night. With tight end Mark Andrews one of the team's top targets as well, Watkins will probably be quarterback Lamar Jackson's fourth option in his return, making him extremely hard to trust as a WR4/flex option in deeper leagues.

Sammy Watkins Expected To Play Against Dolphins

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Sammy Watkins (hamstring) is expected to play on Thursday night against the Miami Dolphins for the first time in a month after he took part in a full practice on Wednesday. Watkins is officially listed as questionable for the game. In his first season with Baltimore, he ranks third on the team with 18 catches for 292 yards, but rookie Rashod Bateman has since returned to the field since Watkins last played, so he won't be as exciting of a flex play for fantasy managers in this run-first offense. At best, the 28-year-old will probably be the fourth receiving option behind Marquise Brown, Mark Andrews and Bateman.

Nov 10th · 09:33 PM
Sammy Watkins Listed As Questionable

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Sammy Watkins (hamstring) is listed as questionable to play on Thursday night against the Miami Dolphins. Watkins was moving around well at practice on Tuesday and was a full participant on Wednesday, so it looks like he will return to action for the first time since getting injured in Week 5. However, rookie Rashod Bateman, who has 12 catches on 20 targets for 161 yards in three games with Watkins sidelined, figures to be the No. 2 behind Marquise Brown moving forward. If Watkins returns, the 28-year-old will be a shaky WR4/flex option for fantasy managers in deeper leagues.

Nov 9th · 07:33 PM
Sammy Watkins Should Be Ready For Thursday

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Sammy Watkins (thigh) was moving around well at practice on Tuesday and should be ready to play on Thursday night against the Miami Dolphins after missing the last three games. Watkins was listed as limited on Monday's estimated practice report, and it's unclear if he got in a full session on Tuesday. The 28-year-old was close to returning in the Week 9 overtime win over the Minnesota Vikings, so he looks to be on track to play in Week 10. It'll be hard to trust him in starting fantasy lineups, though, as he'll likely be the No. 4 passing target behind Marquise Brown, tight end Mark Andrews and rookie wideout Rashod Bateman if he makes his return.

Nov 9th · 02:34 AM
Marquise Brown, Sammy Watkins Limited Monday

Baltimore Ravens wide receivers Marquise Brown (back) and Sammy Watkins (thigh) were both listed as limited on Monday's estimated practice report. Brown played 82% of the offensive snaps and had nine catches on 12 targets for 116 yards -- his third 100-yard game of the season -- in the Week 9 overtime win over the Minnesota Vikings, so he should be good to go this Thursday night against the Miami Dolphins. Brown will be a must-start in Week 10 against a Dolphins defense that has allowed the fourth-most fantasy points per game to receivers in the last three weeks. Watkins has been out since Week 5, but he has a chance at returning this week. If he does, he'll be a WR4/5 as likely the Ravens fourth passing option behind Brown, rookie Rashod Bateman and tight end Mark Andrews.

Nov 7th · 05:31 PM
Sammy Watkins Out For Week 9

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Sammy Watkins (thigh) remains out for Sunday's contest against the Vikings, but the Ravens are hopeful he can return to play next Thursday in Week 10. He last played in Week 5, registering two receptions before leaving. When healthy, Watkins is averaging four receptions per game, but the emergence of Rashod Bateman might push Watkins into a smaller role once he returns. Fantasy managers should probably be playing a wait-and-see game with Watkins. As for Bateman, the Watkins absence makes him an intriguing option in deeper leagues.

Nov 7th · 01:37 PM
Sammy Watkins Has Good Shot To Play On Sunday

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Sammy Watkins (thigh) "is considered a game-time decision with a good shot to go," according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport. The veteran hasn't played since Week 5. Through the first handful of games this season, Watkins hauled in 18 passes for 292 yards but failed to find the end zone. His return is a promising sign, but his usage will take a hit due to the presence of rookie Rashod Bateman (groin), who was on IR when Watkins last played. Consider the latter a high-end WR6 this week.

Nov 5th · 07:48 PM
Sammy Watkins Questionable For Week 9

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Sammy Watkins (thigh) practiced on a limited basis on Thursday and Friday and is listed as questionable for Week 9 against the Minnesota Vikings. Watkins has missed the team's last two games, but he looks to be on the right track to returning this weekend after resting up during the team's bye last week. The veteran pass-catcher had four catches for 96 yards in the season opener, but in four games since then, he hasn't gone over 68 yards receiving, doesn't have more than four receptions and hasn't found the end zone yet in 2021. And with rookie Rashod Bateman now in the fold, Watkins' fantasy floor and ceiling are even lower. Bateman is the more attractive upside WR4/flex in deeper leagues.

Nov 4th · 09:26 PM
Sammy Watkins On Track To Return In Week 9?

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Sammy Watkins (hamstring) returned to the practice field on Thursday after missing the previous day. Watkins has missed the last two games and had last week's bye to rest up. If he is able to suit up this weekend against the Minnesota Vikings, it would mark the first time that quarterback Lamar Jackson would have Watkins, Marquise Brown and rookie Rashod Bateman together for a regular season game. Watkins had exactly four receptions in each of the first four games of the season before getting injured in Week 5, but he'll have to contend with Bateman in the lineup whenever he returns. That will make the veteran pass-catcher an even riskier touchdown-dependent WR4/flex in deep leagues.

Nov 4th · 12:34 AM
Latavius Murray, Sammy Watkins Miss Practice Wednesday

Baltimore Ravens running back Latavius Murray (ankle) and wide receiver Sammy Watkins (thigh) were not at practice on Wednesday. It's a bad sign coming off their bye week. Murray hasn't seen the field since getting injured in Week 6, while Watkins has been out since Week 5. They'll both need to get in some practice work by Friday to have a shot at returning this Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. If Murray remains out, Devonta Freeman, Le'Veon Bell and Ty'Son Williams will continue in a committee backfield approach. Even if Watkins is able to return this weekend, he'll be hard to trust as a WR4/flex in deeper leagues. Rookie Rashad Bateman should continue to see his role increase next to top wideout Marquise Brown.

Oct 22nd · 07:39 PM
Latavius Murray, Sammy Watkins Ruled Out

Baltimore Ravens running back Latavius Murray (ankle) and wide receiver Sammy Watkins (thigh) have been ruled out in Week 7. With Murray inactive, the Ravens will likely turn to another three-man committee approach, which will include Devonta Freeman, Le'Veon Bell, and Ty'Son Williams. With Lamar Jackson always having the possibility to lead the team in carries, no option in the Baltimore backfield has any sort of high ceiling in this game. Freeman and Bell at best offer RB3/FLEX appeal, but will likely need to score a touchdown to have a solid game of fantasy production. With Watkins out, Rashod Bateman should once again see a prominent role in the offense serving as the No. 2 wide receiver behind Marquise Brown. Still, he will likely be third in line for targets as Mark Andrews figures to command a significant target share.

Oct 22nd · 04:34 PM
Latavius Murray, Sammy Watkins Unlikely To Play

Baltimore Ravens running back Latavius Murray (ankle) and wide receiver Sammy Watkins (thigh) didn't practice again on Friday and are unlikely to be available in Week 7 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Watkins is set to miss his second straight game. With Murray likely sidelined, the Ravens will likely split the running back touches between veterans Devonta Freeman and Le'Veon Bell, with Ty'Son Williams serving as the No. 3. Freeman and Bell both found the end zone last week, but they will be low-ceiling RB3/flex options in deeper leagues against Cincy. First-round rookie receiver Rashod Bateman caught four of six targets for 29 yards in his season debut in Week 6 and should slowly see his role increase behind Marquise Brown, especially now that Watkins is injured.

Oct 21st · 09:32 PM
Latavius Murray, Sammy Watkins Out Again Thursday

Baltimore Ravens running back Latavius Murray (ankle) and wide receiver Sammy Watkins (hamstring) both missed practice for a second straight day on Thursday. Both Murray and Watkins are highly questionable to suit up in Week 7 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Watkins also missed the Week 6 blowout win over the Los Angeles Chargers, so he's probably more in danger of missing another game. Murray and Devonta Freeman both saw nine carries last weekend, with Le'Veon Bell seeing eight carries. All three backs found the end zone on the ground, which is obviously something that won't happen every week. If Murray were to miss the game against the Bengals, Freeman and Bell figure to split the backfield touches, with Ty'Son Williams being active as the third back. Rookie receiver Rashod Bateman made his season debut last week and could see a bigger role behind Marquise Brown if Watkins misses a second straight game.

Oct 20th · 07:09 PM
Latavius Murray, Sammy Watkins Missing From Practice

Baltimore Ravens running back Latavius Murray (ankle) and wide receiver Sammy Watkins (thigh) were both absent from practice on Wednesday. Murray picked up the injury in the Week 6 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. Both Devonta Freeman and Le'Veon Bell would have bigger roles in the backfield if Murray can't play in Week 7 against the Cincinnati Bengals, and Ty'Son Williams would likely be active after being a healthy scratch the last two weeks. Watkins missed Sunday's game and could be in line to miss another game this weekend. The 28-year-old receiver is less attractive to fantasy managers, even when healthy, now that rookie first-rounder Rashod Bateman is in the mix at the position.

Oct 15th · 06:30 PM
Sammy Watkins Won't Play In Week 6

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Sammy Watkins (hamstring) has been ruled out for the Week 6 game against the Los Angeles Chargers. With Watkins out of the picture, the Ravens are expected to activate rookie receiver Rashod Bateman (groin). Bateman would be making his NFL debut if he is active on Sunday. However, after missing the first five weeks of the season, the Ravens are expected to ease the first-rounder into the offensive mix. It's really anyone's guess as to which one of James Proche II, Devin Duvernay or Miles Boykin will be the most targeted receiver not named Marquise Brown in this one. If it's any consolation, Duvernay and Proche combined for six catches for 60 yards on six targets in the Monday night win over the Indianapolis Colts.

Oct 14th · 01:53 AM
Sammy Watkins Absent From Practice On Wednesday

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Sammy Watkins (thigh) missed practice on Wednesday after being forced from the Monday night game against the Indianapolis Colts early. The veteran pass-catcher will probably need to get in some sort of practice later this week to have a shot at playing in Week 6 against the Los Angeles Chargers. Rookie Rashod Bateman (groin) is getting close to a return from Injured Reserve, too, so even if Watkins doesn't miss any time, his role could be shrinking sooner than later. Watkins had exactly four catches in the first four weeks before grabbing only two of his three targets for 35 yards on Monday before his injury. He's still looking for his first TD of 2021. If Watkins is unable to go on Sunday, James Proche II, Devin Duvernay and Miles Boykin could take on bigger roles.

Oct 13th · 12:50 PM
Sammy Watkins Dealing With A Hamstring Injury

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Sammy Watkins (hamstring) sustained a hamstring injury in Monday's 31-25 overtime win over the Indianapolis Colts. He caught 2-of-3 targets for 35 yards before exiting. The severity of his hamstring injury is unknown at this time, and he's considered day-to-day. Watkins has hauled in 18-of-32 targets for 292 yards over five games in 2021. The 28-year-old is averaging 13.1 air yards per target. Devin Duvernay, James Proche, Rashod Bateman, and Miles Boykin would all see an uptick in snaps if Watkins were to miss any games.

Oct 9th · 07:23 PM
Sammy Watkins Not A Practice Participant Saturday

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Sammy Watkins (rest) was held out of Saturday's practice session, likely due to rest purposes. Watkins, 28, has been granted a missed day throughout the week for the early portion of the year in an attempt to keep him fresh, so his absence shouldn't set off any alarm bells. He has hauled in four passes in each of the Ravens' first four games of 2021, although he's yet to find the end zone. With at least seven targets to his credit in those contests, along with absences to the Colts secondary, Watkins has some FLEX/WR3 appeal in 12-team season-long leagues or larger for Week 5.

Oct 3rd · 01:58 AM
Sammy Watkins Draws Tough Matchup In Week 4

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Sammy Watkins has been a frequent option for signal-caller Lamar Jackson, currently sitting on 22 targets on the year. However, the veteran will have a tough task ahead against a capable Broncos defense in Week 4, so fantasy managers may want to consider other options in nearly all formats. Nonetheless, with Rashod Bateman (groin) in line to make his debut in Week 5 during a Monday Night Football showdown against the Colts, Watkins may see a drop in his fantasy stock moving ahead.

Sep 27th · 02:26 AM
Sammy Watkins Remains Involved Against Lions

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Sammy Watkins caught four passes for 68 yards during the win over the Lions on Sunday. He tied for a team-high seven looks from signal-caller Lamar Jackson, and he finished second in yardage behind Mark Andrews, who had over 100 on the afternoon. Nonetheless, Watkins has done more than expected but not enough to make him relevant on the fantasy end in most formats. He'll likely become even more obsolete as the Ravens continue to pound the ball down its opponent's throats along with the impending debut of rookie wideout Rashod Bateman (groin), which may potentially come within the next few weeks.

Sep 20th · 01:46 PM
Sammy Watkins Targeted Seven Times In Week 2 Win

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Sammy Watkins caught 4-of-7 targets for 44 yards in Sunday's 36-35 win over the Kansas City Chiefs. He was held under 50 yards on Sunday after hauling four receptions for 96 yards in Week 1. The 28-year-old was second in targets behind Marquise Brown (10) and now has 15 targets over the first two games. Watkins is the third option in a low Ravens passing attack behind Brown and TE Mark Andrews, making him a WR4/5 in most leagues. Fantasy managers can use Watkins as a flex in a plus matchup against a very beatable Detroit Lions secondary in Week 3.

Sep 15th · 12:28 PM
Sammy Watkins Leads Ravens In Receiving Yards In Debut

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Sammy Watkins caught four of eight targets for 96 yards in Monday night's 33-27 overtime loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. He logged 56 snaps and owned 28% of the team's target share in Monday's loss. The 28-year-old led the Ravens in targets (8), receiving yards (96), and was four yards shy of a 100yard game. He is the team's third option in the Ravens passing attack behind WR Marquise Brown and TE Mark Andrews. Watkins is borderline flex play and will look to build on his strong Week performance against one of his former teams, the Kansas City Chiefs, Sunday night.

Aug 14th · 04:12 AM
Sammy Watkins Stock Continues To Rise

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Sammy Watkins continues to impress during training camp. With Rashod Bateman (core) and Marquise Brown (hamstring) dealing with injuries, the veteran has established himself as the primary wideout for signal-caller Lamar Jackson. Although it's no secret that the Ravens' offense is built around the run, Watkins could still get some downfield looks throughout the year. The 28-year-old finished the 2020-21 campaign with 421 yards and two touchdowns off 37 catches. However, there is room for improvement in his new home, especially if Bateman and Brown don't make it back anytime soon. Managers should target Watkins in the later rounds of fantasy drafts and consider him a low-risk, high-reward option.

Jul 30th · 06:32 PM
Sammy Watkins Off To A Great Start In Training Camp

Baltimore Ravens veteran wide receiver Sammy Watkins is turning heads early on in training camp practices. Ravens offensive coordinator Greg Roman called Watkins "one of the best receivers in the NFL, period," and ESPN's Jamison Hensley noted that Watkins "has been the Ravens' best WR in the first three days of training camp." Watkins' talent has never been in doubt, but he's struggled mightily with consistency and injuries over the last few years. Still, this level of praise is surprising, and it warrants consideration in fantasy drafts this summer. Watkins still projects as a late-round dart throw, but his appeal is growing and he could be an excellent value if he stays healthy in 2021.

Are NFL Trade Rumor Covered in the Player News?
Yes! As you can see from this Julio Jones write up from his player page, we updated his news section as soon as the news broke.
“The Atlanta Falcons are not expected to trade quarterback Matt Ryan this offseason, according to sources. “The Falcons have not had any trade conversations about Ryan or their star wide receiver Julio Jones. And every expectation is both players are going to be on the roster in 2021,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero said. New head coach Arthur Smith plans to run a similar offense to the one Kyle Shanahan used when Ryan won MVP in 2016. Atlanta would be on the hook for more than $44 million in dead money in 2021 if they traded Ryan before June 1. Atlanta may decide to take Ryan’s heir-apparent at No. 4 overall in the draft, but the 35-year-old signal-caller is expected to stay put for at least another season. Ryan and Jones got it going to end the regular season and could be in line for bounce-back campaigns under Smith in 2021. Consider Ryan a midrange QB1 heading into next season.”
