Tyrod Taylor Practices In Full On Thursday

Houston Texans quarterback Tyrod Taylor (left wrist) practiced in full for the second consecutive day on Thursday. Although he should be active for Week 14 and Houston has yet to officially name a starter, the expectation is that Davis Mills will get the nod. The 32-year-old Taylor went 60-for-106 with just 550 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, and five interceptions over his last four starts. Neither Taylor nor Mills are worth starting in fantasy leagues this week regardless of Houston's upcoming personnel decisions. In fact, wide receiver Brandin Cooks is the only legitimate lineup option against Seattle, and even he is a low-end WR2.

Tyrod Taylor Practicing But Not Expected To Start

Houston Texans quarterback Tyrod Taylor (wrist) practiced on Wednesday, but rookie Davis Mills is expected to start in Week 14 against the Seattle Seahawks. Taylor hyperextended his left wrist and was believed to have suffered ligament damage in Week 13, and he was wearing a glove on his injured hand on Wednesday. Head coach David Culley said a decision on the starting QB this Sunday will be made later in the week, and that Taylor's injury won't be a factor in the decision. According to league sources. Mills could be the starter for the rest of the year in a lost season. Taylor's injury affects his ability to grip the football when taking snaps under center. The veteran QB has been really bad in recent weeks after returning from a stint on Injured Reserve, so it looks like Mills will be given another shot. In the lowest-scoring offense in the league (13.7 points per game), Mills will go back to being strictly a low-end QB2 emergency option in superflex leagues.

Tyrod Taylor Week-To-Week, Davis Mills Expected To Start

Houston Texans quarterback Tyrod Taylor (wrist) is listed as week-to-week and is believed to have torn ligaments in his left wrist, according to sources. As a result, rookie third-rounder Davis Mills is expected to make another start in Week 14 against the Seattle Seahawks. Mills started six games earlier this season when Taylor went on Injured Reserve with a hamstring injury, and he looked, well, like a rookie. The 23-year-old completed 69.11% of his 191 passing attempts for 1,255 yards, six touchdowns and seven interceptions while taking 19 sacks. To be fair, the Texans don't have enough playmakers on offense to give Davis much of a chance, so he'll return to being an emergency QB2 streamer in superflex leagues for however long Taylor is out this time around.

Tyrod Taylor Believed To Have Torn Ligaments In Wrist

Houston Texans quarterback Tyrod Taylor (wrist) is believed to have torn ligaments in his left wrist, so he will receive further testing to find out the severity of his injury. His status for Week 14 is now in question, so the door is possibly open for rookie Davis Mills to once again be the starter for the Texans. In his last start against the Rams, Mills threw for 310 yards and two touchdowns and has shown flashes of potential this year. Still, he has also had his share of miserable performances, so he isn't on the fantasy radar in conventional formats. The fantasy value of Brandin Cooks won't be changed too drastically, if at all, as he will remain a boom-or-bust option with either Taylor or Mills under center

Dec 5th · 10:19 PM
Tyrod Taylor Injured In Week 13

Houston Texans quarterback Tyrod Taylor (wrist) suffered a hyperextended wrist in the Week 13 loss to the Colts and couldn't continue in the game. Taylor only managed five completions on 19 attempts for 45 yards and one interception before his injury. He also had three rushing attempts for 15 yards. The Colts were all over Taylor, picking him off on the first offensive snap of the game and sacking him twice. Taylor was replaced by rookie Davis Mills. It's unknown if Taylor will be able to play next week with his wrist injury, but if he can't, Mills will be a bottom-of-the barrel QB2 in superflex leagues.

Dec 5th · 08:32 PM
Tyrod Taylor Benched For Davis Mills

The Houston Texans benched quarterback Tyrod Taylor on Sunday against the Colts, inserting rookie Davis Mills under center. Taylor was 5-for-13 for 45 yards with an interception. Mills isn't necessarily a better option than Taylor, as he's started 2-for-7 since coming in, but the soon-to-be 2-10 Texans might as well look to the future and make Mills the starter, right?

Dec 3rd · 04:59 PM
Tyrod Taylor - Week 13 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Houston Texans quarterback Tyrod Taylor has been a viable streamer for the past few weeks in very solid matchups. Unfortunately for him, that ends this week. Taylor's value largely comes from his legs. The Colts run one of the most zone-heavy schemes in the NFL. That means all eyes are on the QB. The Colts defense held Lamar Jackson to just 62 yards on 14 attempts and held Josh Allen to just 18 yards on two attempts. Furthermore, Taylor could be without his top weapon, wide receiver Brandin Cooks, this week. Taylor is nothing more than a bye-week replacement in extremely deep leagues, and there are likely better options on the waiver wire.

Nov 29th · 05:49 PM
Tyrod Taylor Remains The Team's Starter

Houston Texans head coach David Culley said that quarterback Tyrod Taylor will remain the team's starter when he's healthy. The only way that rookie Davis Mills will play again this year is if Taylor suffers another injury. Taylor was a huge disappointment in the Week 12 loss to the New York Jets, going 17-for-26 for 158 yards, two touchdowns and an interception while also gaining 30 yards on the ground on two rushing attempts. The 32-year-old has played in only five games this year due to injury and is completing 62.8% of his passes for 921 yards, five touchdowns and four interceptions. Taylor doesn't have a lot of help in the least explosive offense in football, and he'll remain a bottom-of-the-barrel QB2 option in Week 13 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Nov 28th · 10:11 PM
Tyrod Taylor Disappointing In Loss To Jets

Houston Texans quarterback Tyrod Taylor was one of the best streamer candidates this week after taking over the goal-line rushing role for Houston in a great matchup versus the bottom-feeding Jets. Yet he only managed 158 passing yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Furthermore, he only had two carries for 30 yards. This was the best possible matchup for Taylor, but the production was lackluster. Taylor is an emergency QB2 with decent rushing upside, but the ceiling is capped in this offense.

Nov 27th · 03:23 PM
Tyrod Taylor - Week 12 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Houston Texans quarterback Tyrod Taylor showed what he was capable of last week and now he gets his softest matchup of the year in a Week 12 meeting against the New York Jets. Taylor has been limited to just three healthy games all season, where he produced pass attempts of 24, 33 and 43. However, Taylor has three rushing touchdowns on the season and has taken over the goal-line rushing role in the offense. The Jets pass defense is nothing to fear, and Tyrod brings upside with his legs. Consider the Houston QB a viable QB2 streamer this week.

Nov 26th · 06:56 PM
Tyrod Taylor, Brandin Cooks Lacking Explosive Plays

Houston Texans quarterback Tyrod Taylor and the offense have produced an explosive play (16-plus yards on a pass or 12-plus yards on a run) just 6.3% of the time in 2021. Houston's offensive line ranks 30th in ESPN's pass-block win rate, which measures how often an offensive line holds its blocks for at least 2.5 seconds. That has made it hard for Taylor and wide receiver Brandin Cooks to hook up for deep connections. And outside of Cooks, the Texans don't really have any pass-catchers that can consistently win deep down the field. If Houston's explosive-play rate holds for the rest of the year, it would be the lowest rate by a team since 2000. Cooks will remain in the WR2 mix as his team's target hog in a great matchup against the New York Jets on Sunday, but his lack of big plays down the field limit his overall fantasy ceiling.

Nov 9th · 11:22 AM
Tyrod Taylor Will Start After The Week 10 Bye

Houston Texans quarterback Tyrod Taylor (hamstring) will remain the team's starter following the Week 10 bye. He was activated from the injured reserve ahead of last Sunday's game and returned to action for the first time since Week 2. The 32-year-old struggled mightily in a Week 9 loss to the Dolphins. Taylor threw for 240 yards and three interceptions while rushing for 23 yards on three attempts. "He's going to be better and we're going to have a chance to win if he plays like he should," said Texans head coach David Culley. The veteran quarterback has thrown for 656 yards, three touchdowns, three interceptions, and rushed for 78 yards and a score over three games in 2021. Taylor will look to bounce back against the Tennessee Titans in Week 11 but mainly remains an option in Superflex league formats.

Nov 7th · 10:53 PM
Tyrod Taylor Throws Three Interceptions In Loss

Houston Texans quarterback Tyrod Taylor struggled mightily in his return to the field Sunday against the Dolphins. Taylor threw for 240 yards and rushed for 23 yards but was held without a score, as he threw three interceptions. The dual-threat signal-caller was in a position to succeed against a beatable Dolphins defense but also didn't get any help from his offensive line, which allowed five sacks to Miami. Taylor should have better days- but this Texans offense isn't one to target unless the matchup is perfect. He and the Texans will head into a bye before taking on the Titans in Week 10.

Nov 6th · 09:06 PM
Tyrod Taylor Officially Activated, Will Start Against Miami

The Houston Texans officially activated quarterback Tyrod Taylor (hamstring) from Injured Reserve on Saturday, and he is in line to start in Week 9 against the Miami Dolphins. Taylor's return means rookie Davis Mills will head back to the bench. In a corresponding move, linebacker Christian Kirksey (thumb) was placed on IR after having thumb surgery. Taylor threw for 416 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions in two games before going down with his injury, and he should help Houston's offense be more productive than it was under Mills. And the 32-year-old will return to face a Dolphins defense that has allowed the fourth-most fantasy points per game to QBs through eight weeks. Taylor is in play as a QB2 in superflex leagues.

Nov 4th · 04:09 PM
Tyrod Taylor Named The Starter For Week 9

The Houston Texans have named quarterback Tyrod Taylor (hamstring) as their starter for the Week 9 game against the Miami Dolphins. Taylor won his only start of the season back in Week 1 over the Jacksonville Jaguars and was leading the Cleveland Browns in Week 2 before he suffered a Grade 2 hamstring strain and landed on Injured Reserve. Rookie Davis Mills was about as bad as one would expect after being thrown in the fire too soon, so this development is good news for the entire Texans offense. The 32-year-old was 21-for-33 for 291 yards passing, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the season opener and will be on the QB2 map in leagues that allow two starting QBs in starting lineups. The Dolphins D has also allowed the third-most fantasy points per game this year to opposing signal-callers.

Oct 29th · 04:23 PM
Davis Mills, Not Tyrod Taylor, Starting Against Rams

Houston Texans quarterback Davis Mills will make another start in Week 8 against the Los Angeles Rams. Tyrod Taylor (hamstring) is getting closer to a return, but he remains on Injured Reserve and won't play this weekend. Mills, a third-round rookie, will be making his sixth start of the season this weekend. Predictably, he's been one of the worst starting QBs in the league while throwing for 1,047 yards, five touchdowns and seven interceptions. Mills has completed 65 percent of his passes, lost one fumble and been sacked 15 times in his five starts for an ugly QB rating of 31.8 on the season. Even though the Rams defense hasn't been quite as good as they were a season ago, Mills should be avoided, even in two-QB leagues.

Oct 27th · 04:04 PM
Tyrod Taylor Trending Towards Starting On Sunday

Houston Texans quarterback Tyrod Taylor(hamstring) plans to return to practice on Wednesday after injuring his hamstring in Week 2. As long as the veteran doesn't suffer any setbacks during the week, he is likely to start under center for the Texans in a matchup against the Rams defense. While the Texans offense will likely not suddenly become a powerhouse, Taylor looked good during Week 1, and his return improves the fantasy ceilings for both wide receiversBrandin Cooks and Nico Collins. Also, Taylor himself would become usable in two-QB leagues given his rushing upside. The Rams, despite their glowing reputation, are actually 20th in the league in points allowed to fantasy quarterbacks, so there is a chance that Taylor can put up enough garbage-time points to be a useful option this week.

Oct 25th · 02:07 AM
Tyrod Taylor To Practice On Wednesday

Houston Texans quarterback Tyrod Taylor (hamstring) is set to be designated to return and practice on Wednesday. After the designation, the team will have 21 days to activate him and place him back on the roster or be forced to keep him on the injured reserve list for the remainder of the 2021-22 campaign. Taylor hasn't played since suffering a Grade 2 hamstring strain during the second game of the year against the Cleveland Browns. He played relatively well before succumbing to the ailment and had thrown three touchdowns while maintaining an acceptable 70.5 completion percentage. Although it's unlikely Taylor suits up for the upcoming matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, there is a chance he could be back for Week 9 against the Dolphins. His presence would mean Davis Mills would head back to the bench, while Brandin Cooks could benefit from the play of a more stable signal-caller.

Oct 20th · 04:39 PM
Tyrod Taylor Week-To-Week, Davis Mills Starting In Week 7

Houston Texans head coach David Culley said that rookie quarterback Davis Mills will get another start in Week 7 against the undefeated Arizona Cardinals with Tyrod Taylor (hamstring) being listed as week-to-week. The good news is the Texans hope Taylor gets in some work in practice this week, but it's a downgrade after he was deemed day-to-day earlier in the week. The 32-year-old remains on Injured Reserve. Mills, well, has looked like a third-round rookie thrown into the fire much too soon. The 22-year-old did throw for over 300 yards and three touchdowns in Week 5, but he predictably came back to Earth by throwing for 243 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions in the Week 6 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Stay away from Mills, even in two-QB leagues, this Sunday. The Cardinals defense is licking their chops.

Oct 18th · 06:06 PM
Tyrod Taylor Considered Day-To-Day

Houston Texans head coach David Culley spoke to reporters Monday and said that quarterback Tyrod Taylor (hamstring) is considered day-to-day. Taylor suffered a Grade 2 hamstring strain and has missed the last four games while on Injured Reserve. Culley noted that the veteran signal-caller has made progress in his recovery but wouldn't say whether he would practice or possibly return this week. The team plans to give Taylor a "ramp-up" period to ensure he doesn't aggravate the injury, so it sounds like expecting a Week 7 return could be ambitious. Still, it's good news for those who roster wide receiverBrandin Cooks or a rookieNico Collins, as Taylor elevates the fantasy potential of the Texans offense.

Oct 13th · 04:25 PM
Tyrod Taylor Is The Starter When Healthy

Houston Texans head coach David Culley said that quarterback Tyrod Taylor (hamstring) will be the team's starter over rookie Davis Mills when he's healthy. Taylor has been making good progress, but he remains week-to-week and isn't expected to return from Injured Reserve to face the Indianapolis Colts in Week 6. In the season-opening win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, Taylor went 21-for-33 for 291 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. He was 10-for-11 for 125 yards and a touchdown before getting injured in Week 2. Mills had the best game of his season so far in the Week 5 loss to the New England Patriots, throwing for over 300 yards and three touchdowns, but he has completed only 61.5% of his 96 attempts through four games and has a 5:5 touchdown-to-interception ratio. Taylor will be a low-end QB2 option when he returns to the starting gig.

Sep 21st · 09:04 PM
Tyrod Taylor, Nico Collins Placed On Injured Reserve

Houston Texans quarterback Tyrod Taylor (hamstring) and rookie wide receiver Nico Collins (shoulder) were both placed on Injured Reserve on Tuesday. Taylor, who suffered a hamstring injury during Sunday's loss to Cleveland, could potentially miss four weeks of action. Collins' rookie campaign will be put on hold for about a month due to the shoulder injury. Rookie signal-caller Davis Mills will get the start against an underrated Panthers defense Thursday night, though the Stanford product doesn't offer much in the way of fantasy upside. As for the receivers, Chris Conley could see added time on the outside, but the primary benefit in terms of fantasy value goes to Brandin Cooks, who should continue to dominate the target share in this offense.

Sep 21st · 03:49 PM
Tyrod Taylor Out, Davis Mills To Start Thursday

Houston Texans quarterback Tyrod Taylor (hamstring) will be inactive on Thursday night against the Carolina Panthers. That means rookie Davis Mills, who took over in Week 2, will get his first NFL start. Mills completed 8-of-18 passes when he entered the game against the Cleveland Browns, racking up 102 yards and a touchdown. The absence of Taylor could mean that Brandin Cooks will lose some fantasy value, but he should see enough volume to give fantasy managers FLEX consideration, even with the rookie throwing him passes. Mills is completely off the fantasy radar for now, as he figures to experience some growing pains making the leap to the NFL. The Texans could rely more on the run to shelter their new starting quarterback, so Mark Ingram II, David Johnson, and Phillip Lindsay could all see a slight increase in volume.

Sep 20th · 09:26 PM
Tyrod Taylor A Candidate For Injured Reserve

Houston Texans quarterback Tyrod Taylor (hamstring) is considered week-to-week with a hamstring injury, and Injured Reserve is a possibility. The Texans have already ruled Taylor out for this Thursday's game against the Carolina Panthers, and he could be looking at an extended absence. Houston will not go with Deshaun Watson, who is still facing 20-plus lawsuits for sexual abuse and misconduct, so it will be rookie quarterback Davis Mills making his first career start in Week 3. Fantasy managers are hoping that wide receiver Brandon Cooks, who has been Taylor's favorite target by far through two weeks, won't see too much of a dip with Mills taking over. Mills will only be a streaming option for the desperate in two-QB superflex setups.

Sep 19th · 09:21 PM
Tyrod Taylor Won't Play Thursday

Houston Texans quarterback Tyrod Taylor (hamstring) suffered a hamstring injury against the Cleveland Browns. The veteran signal-caller will undergo an MRI tomorrow but has already been ruled out for the Texans' Thursday night matchup against the Carolina Panthers. Taylor played well in his first two games of the season, so this injury is extremely disappointing to Texans fans who seemingly can't catch a break. For fantasy, however, the former Bill was quickly looking like a viable streamer, but this takes him out of streaming consideration for at least a week. Fantasy managers should avoid streaming Taylor until they see him back in action and healthy again.

Are NFL Trade Rumor Covered in the Player News?
Yes! As you can see from this Julio Jones write up from his player page, we updated his news section as soon as the news broke.
“The Atlanta Falcons are not expected to trade quarterback Matt Ryan this offseason, according to sources. “The Falcons have not had any trade conversations about Ryan or their star wide receiver Julio Jones. And every expectation is both players are going to be on the roster in 2021,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero said. New head coach Arthur Smith plans to run a similar offense to the one Kyle Shanahan used when Ryan won MVP in 2016. Atlanta would be on the hook for more than $44 million in dead money in 2021 if they traded Ryan before June 1. Atlanta may decide to take Ryan’s heir-apparent at No. 4 overall in the draft, but the 35-year-old signal-caller is expected to stay put for at least another season. Ryan and Jones got it going to end the regular season and could be in line for bounce-back campaigns under Smith in 2021. Consider Ryan a midrange QB1 heading into next season.”
