EPL DFS picks for DraftKings and FanDuel daily fantasy soccer lineups Tuesday January 12 2021 featuring Bruno Fernandez

Welcome to our EPL DFS coverage for Tuesday, Jan. 12. Here you’ll find our top EPL DFS picks for DraftKings and FanDuel, which consider all aspects of the slate from projection to pricing to popularity across soccer DFS.

EPL Odds Report

Sheffield United (+140) vs. Newcastle United (+210), O/U 2.5

Burnley (+260) vs. Manchester United (-240), O/U 2.5

Wolverhampton (+137) vs. Everton (+210), O/U 2.5

EPL DFS Picks DraftKings + FanDuel Lineups | Jan. 12

These are listed in order of what I believe are the top plays, including median projection, floor and upside.

Note: DraftKings Main slate is two games and does not include the Sheffield United vs Newcastle Match. FanDuel main slate includes all three matches.

EPL DFS Picks: Forwards/Midfield

Ashley Barnes (DraftKings $5,100 FanDuel $13)

Bruno Fernandez (DraftKings $11,800 FanDuel $23)

The two-game slate on DraftKings features four teams with solid defenses given their home road splits. Manchester United sports the sixth-best road defense in the EPL, while Burnley’s home defense is third. The key difference is Manchester United’s road offense with ranks fourth overall in the EPL. I would try to jam in as much of United’s attack as possible, with priority given to Bruno Fernandez.

Fernandez continues to contribute on the scoresheet since joining the squad. He is averaging 1.125 goals/assists, 6.43 shots/assisted shots and 4.56 crosses per match. The asking price is high, but the floor and upside outweigh it. With a high asking price on both teammates Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, it is unlikely to fit both. I give the preference to Rashford, who seems to have a safer full-game run time and near double the shot volume.

Ashley Barnes brings shot volume at a reduced asking price. He frees up salary and can accumulate value with 1.86 shots in full-game run and 2.56 drawn fouls in the same stretch. For a floor play we can look to Ashley Westwood for set piece shares or defer to other value like Robbie Brady if Westwood is out of the match.

James Rodriguez (DraftKings $10,500 FanDuel $17)

Pedro Neto (DraftKings $9,800 FanDuel $18)

Wolverhampton’s home defense ranks fourth in the EPL, but Everton’s road defense is equal the task, sitting fifth. This game looks to be a stalemate with one team looking to score and rest back. James Rodriguez looks to return and offers a high floor play. He averages 4.27 shots/assisted shots, 4.63 crosses and 2.01 drawn fouls per match. The floor is there, and the upside can be if he can sneak one past the Wolves defense. I like his shooting volume to increase with the expected absence of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and he handles corners sets over Gylfi Sigurdsson. Sigurdsson has penalty kick upside, so I would consider him a GPP option. But without the set pieces, Rodriguez is the priority.

On the other side of the pitch, Pedro Neto offers offensive upside, but the interchanging Wolves set-piece style makes him a secondary option. The PK upside from Ruben Neves puts him in consideration like Sigurdsson at almost half the cost. I would focus on the Manchester United attack, Rodriguez and then punt multiple midfielders in what looks to be a low-scoring slate.

Other Options: Joao Moutinho (DraftKings $5,300, FanDuel $13), Fabio Silva (DraftKings $5,400, FanDuel $16), Robbie Brady (DraftKings $4,400, FanDuel $11), Richarlison (DraftKings $8,500, FanDuel $18), Matt Ritchie (FanDuel $9), Callum Wilson (FanDuel $19).

EPL DFS Picks: Defenders

Alex Telles (DraftKings $6,500 FanDuel $13)

Lucas Digne (DraftKings $7,300 FanDuel $5)

Alex Telles controls the set corner shares for Manchester United. He averages 6.5 crosses per match and leads to assisted shots and goal contribution upside. If he is not starting, I would slot in Luke Shaw for a discount, as he assumes the same role responsibilities.

Lucas Digne looks ready to return to Everton. On DraftKings I would not make him a priority because that would involve dropping Fernandez, Rodriguez or Telles/Shaw. I do not see his volume rising to that of last seasons with Rodriguez back in the lineup, but if Rodriguez is out, Digne would be a priority. Digne is a great value play on FanDuel, where his tag and lack of play have made him clearly mispriced. Open-play crossing volume at min asking price is hard to argue against.

Other Options: Ben Mee (DraftKings $2,900, FanDuel $14), Yerry Mina (DraftKings $4,000, FanDuel $13), Romain Saiss (DraftKings $3,800, FanDuel $12), John Egan (FanDuel $12).
