Welcome to the English Premier League DFS coverage for Saturday, April 2. Below are the top EPL DFS picks on DraftKings and FanDuel for Matchday 31, which consider all aspects of the slate, from Awesemo’s expert fantasy soccer projections to pricing to popularity for DFS fantasy soccer. These EPL DFS soccer picks should help with creating highly projected lineups in DraftKings and FanDuel fantasy soccer tournaments and cash games.
The Main slate consists of a rare five-game outing with heavy favorites Manchester City (-500, BetMGM) and Chelsea (-303, BetMGM) leading the charge. The pick-‘em battles for GPP plays are the Aston Villa – Wolverhampton match and the Southampton – Leeds United outing. In cash games Chelsea and Manchester City would garner the heavy ownership, and fill-in pieces from Brighton at home will round out the punt options.
EPL DFS Picks Today: DraftKings & FanDuel Fantasy Soccer
James Ward- Prowse (DraftKings: $9,500, FanDuel $18)
Mason Mount (DraftKings: $8,800, FanDuel $20)
Leeds United gets the homefield advantage against Southampton. This match looks to be a sneakily high-scoring affair with a must-win Leeds side and a Southampton side that has firepower of their own. The common factor between the two sides is the lack of defense, with both allowing below-average expected goals. Leeds has the second-worst defense in the EPL, with 1.88 expected goals allowed per match. Southampton is nearing that mark at 1.42. The set piece man for Southampton is James Ward-Prowse. His price has risen, but his floor should be enough to pay it off with the plus matchup. Ward-Prowse leads Southampton in scoring and contributes on 34% of goals. His floor is built on 8.12 crosses and 3.33 scoring chances created per match. The upside is in the goal hunting, making him a core play on DraftKings. On FanDuel the price really requires a goal. In that same price range for goal hunting, Philippe Coutinho and Kai Havertz both have higher goal odds for an anytime score. The rest of Southampton can be used in GPP stacking, with Che Adams and Armando Broja both coming in sub $7,000 on the price. They mimic each other’s shot attempts at over 2.10 a piece per match. Broja comes in $1,000 discounted from Adams, but recent matches suggest he does not see out the games. An interesting punt option for salary relief and the attempts at goal is Stuart Armstrong. His price allows for fitting in Chelsea and Manchester City targets and his shot attempts in the starting rotation eclipse 3.57 per match in his recent seven starts.
Chelsea will garner ownership as mentioned above. They play host to Brentford who struggles on defense, allowing an expected goals of 1.31 per match. Chelsea is top three in the EPL with an expected goals of 1.73 per match. They have posted two-plus goals in eight of their previous 10 matches. Brentford has allowed at least two goals in eight of their last 11 matches. Mason Mount would lead the charge in terms of floor metrics Chelsea. He averages 2.59 shots with 6.32 crosses per match. His upside is in the scoring department, where he accounts for 26% of the scoring and leads the club in goals with eight. The pieces around of interest are a defender mentioned below and Kai Havertz. Havertz is a goal-hunting option with 2.55 shots per match and a 43% on-target accuracy rate similar to that of Mount’s. Havertz’s form has been on point, and the price has risen. He still offers a discount from the Manchester City front line and is in a more favorable matchup.
Neal Maupay (DraftKings: $5,800, FanDuel $17)
Jack Harrison (DraftKings: $7,100, FanDuel $14)
Brighton has a home matchup against a Norwich side that allows an EPL-worst 1.91 expected goals per match. Pascal Gross would likely draw ownership with set shares and a low enough price for the floor. Neil Maupay leads the club in scoring and averages 2.25 shots per match. This number should see an uptick given the matchup and the price for Maupay is low enough where any goal contribution would pay 2 x the value. With as many games on the slate, no goal contribution and Maupay will drown your lineup, making him a GPP only play.
Jack Harrison stands out with recent form of two-plus shots and the crossing volume. The safer play is Raphinha who handles set share son his side of the pitch and the penalties. Raphinha comes with a higher salary at $9,300 on DraftKings but sees a superior shot increase at 2.80 throughout the season with a lead on the club’s scoring list. Raphinha would be the GPP play for me on FanDuel. Pass on Mount and Ward-Prowse on DraftKings regardless of the higher ownership.
Other Options: Riyad Mahrez (DraftKings: $11,000, FanDuel $19), Kevin De Bruyne (DraftKings: $10,000, FanDuel $21), Ollie Watkins (DraftKings: $5,400, FanDuel $16), Danny Ings (DraftKings: $6,300, FanDuel $15). Phillippe Coutinho (DraftKings: $8,600, FanDuel $18), Daniel Podence (DraftKings: $7,700, FanDuel $16), Ivan Toney (DraftKings: $7,200, FanDuel $16), Teemu Pukki (DraftKings: $5,500, FanDuel $15), Billy Gilmour (DraftKings: $5,100, FanDuel $13)
Kyle Walker- Peters (DraftKings: $4,700, FanDuel $10)
Kyle Walker- Peters could be in for a sneaky good match. He has averages just under three drawn fouls and open play crosses per match since pairing on the Left wingback role. The free roaming has seen his shot volume increase to two per match in his previous four full match runs. The matchup is there as mentioned above, and the ownership will flow away from the Southampton defender for the options below. He can be paired with James or Cancelo for salary relief and leverage in GPP plays. Matthew Cash is the other option at a similar price with the free roaming to the offense and being active in recent matches.
Other Options: Reece James (DraftKings: $7,900, FanDuel $15), Matthew Cash (DraftKings: $5,000, FanDuel $13), Joao Cancelo (DraftKings: $6,600, FanDuel $15), Joel Veltman (DraftKings: $3,800, FanDuel $8), Brandon Williams (DraftKings: $3,100, FanDuel $9)
Nick Pope (DraftKings: $3,600, FanDuel $6)
Emiliano Martinez (DraftKings: $5,100, FanDuel $11)
