UCL Odds Report

Manchester City (-303) vs. Borussia Dortmund (+700) | Total: 3.5 goals

Real Madrid (+163) vs. Liverpool (+160) | Total: 2.5 goals

UCL DFS Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Lineups | April 6

These are listed in order of what I believe are the top plays, including median projection, floor and upside.

UCL DFS Picks: Forwards/Midfielders

Erling Haaland (DraftKings: $7,800, FanDuel: $21)

Manchester City comes into this slate as a sizable favorite. They sport the second-best home defense in the EPL, allowing less than an expected goal per match. In the Champions League, they have allowed one goal and have recorded seven consecutive clean sheets. That streak will be put to the test against a Dortmund side that averages 2.03 goals per match and an expected of 1.98. Manchester City should hold at home, but this match looks to have plenty of fireworks.

Erling Haaland has been unstoppable across all competitions. He has contributed on 46.29% of Dortmund’s overall Bundesliga scoring and 64.7% of their overall Champions League scoring. Haaland averages 3.37 shots per match with an on-target accuracy of 51.4%. He will need to score to produce, but many teams have failed to keep the Norway International off the score sheet, and the asking price is too low to not pick him as the best goal-hunting option. For the visitors, Thorgan Hazard provides crossing volume by way of open play, and averages 1.37 shots per match and 2.33 scoring chances.

Ilkay Gundogan (DraftKings: $7,000, FanDuel: $16)

The hosts lean heavily on Kevin De Bruyne. His floor is unmatched and he is a core play at sub-$10K. De Bruyne averages 3.63 shots per match and 6.79 crosses. He creates 6.18 scoring chances per match and handles the PKs for Manchester City. The often overlooked goal-hunting option is Ilkay Gundogan. Gundogan leads the EPL leaders in goals scored and pushes up the middle for 2.18 shots and 3.58 scoring chances created.

The asking price for Gundogan sits low enough where a goal will produce over 2x value given the combination of underperformed surrounding metrics of nearly one drawn foul, won tackle and interceptions per match. He is a strong GPP play alongside Raheem Sterling, coming at a discount given the goal-contribution metrics for the club. The choice between Gabriel Jesus or Sergio Aguero rests solely on which one starts, but both are seldom appealing given short leash of minutes ran if they do not contribute early.

Karim Benzema (DraftKings: $8,400, FanDuel: $22)

The matchup in Madrid looks like a toss-up on paper. It is hard to go against the hosts in Champions League form. They will be without the services of Sergio Ramos, which opens up defensive holes that Liverpool will look to exploit. Liverpool is a weak defensive squad in its own right, and Real Madrid has no shortage of offensive weapons.

Karim Benzema shows no signs of aging and continues to find the back of the net, as Real Madrid looks to both win La Liga and advance through the Champions League. Despite missing some matches, Benzema has contributed on 50% of Real Madrid’s overall scoring in La Liga and 35.7% of the scoring in the Champions League. He averages 4.07 shots per match across all competitions with an on-target accuracy clip of 43.7%. Benzema will handle the PKs with Ramos out and will receive lower ownership given the higher asking price in a less-than-ideal match up.

Toni Kroos (DraftKings: $6,900, FanDuel: $16)

Toni Kroos handles the set shares for the hosts. His asking price is too low for the floor, built off of 6.98 crosses per match. Kroos leads the club in scoring chances created with 4.62 per match and is a core play with goal-contribution upside. In GPPs, Marco Asensio comes in at a discount and provides scoring threat on the counters. A low-owned option given price and lack of floor is Casemiro, who comes with a fouls-committed risk, but takes plenty of chances on the corner sets. He should increase his shots on net with Ramos out of the aerial attacks.

The visitors sport a star studded attack, with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. It has been Diogo Jota that cannot be kept off the score sheet as of late. Jota comes in discounted form his teammates. He’s attempting the same shot volume when converted to full game run. Jota as made the most of his minutes and opens the space for a goal contribution pairing with one of Salah or Mane.

Other Options: Riyad Mahrez (DraftKings $8,600, FanDuel $22), Luka Modric (DraftKings $5,300, FanDuel $14), Vinicius Junior (DraftKings $4,900, FanDuel $17), Mahmoud Dahoud (DraftKings $3,600, FanDuel $12).

UCL DFS Picks: Defender

Joao Cancelo (DraftKings: $5,100, FanDuel: $15)
Raphael Guerreiro (DraftKings: $4,400, FanDuel: $11)

The core play at the defender spot is Trent Alexander-Arnold. He handles the set shares for Liverpool and builds a floor on open-play deliveries. Joao Cancelo is discounted and offers upside on the wing for the heavy favored Manchester City. Cancelo averages 1.30 shots per match and ranks second on the club in open-play crossing volume, at 2.64 per match. He produces 2.82 scoring chances per match and leads Manchester City with five interceptions and won tackles per match.

Raphael Guerreiro will handle majority set shares for Dortmund, who will be without the services of Jadon Sancho. He averages 1.66 shots per match and 4.16 crosses. He sits behind Sancho on the club’s leaderboard with 3.74 scoring chances created per match. The asking price makes Guerreiro a top value option in all formats and a solid one-off who produces defensively as well with 2.35 won tackles and interceptions per match.

Other Options: Lucas Vazquez  (DraftKings $5,900, FanDuel $13), Ferland Mendy (DraftKings $4,100, FanDuel $11), Andrew Robertson (DraftKings $4,900, FanDuel $11).

UCL DFS Picks: Top Goalkeepers

Thibault Courtois (DraftKings $4,700, FanDuel $10)
Ederson (DraftKings $5,800, FanDuel $13)
