Euro 2020 DFS Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Lineups | June 16

These are listed in order of what I believe are the top plays, including median projection, floor and upside.

Euro DFS Picks: Forwards/Midfielders

Lorenzo Insigne (DraftKings $10,000, FanDuel $22)

Italy handled Turkey in its opening match of the Euros. The score line was generous to the Turkey squad that was completely outplayed. Switzerland drew to Wales, which was a tough match up against a solid defense. This group continues to play its matches in Rome, giving Italy the advantage once again. Overall, Italy is just a better squad with possession leading to quick strikes. The leader of the pack is Lorenzo Insigne.

Insigne handled all the set shares, which was first assumed to be split with Domenico Berardi. Berardi did receive a knock towards the end of the match and was replaced by Federico Benardeschi. Benardeschi is a normal set man for Italy and if he’s starting, he would provide a solid option at sub-$9K on the core plays. For now, with Berardi in, Insigne is the play regardless of the high ask. Insigne willingness too shoot form distance is nothing new and he nearly scored a brace. The floor is there and Switzerland will not be able to limit Italy to 36% possession, like they did to Wales. Italy will push the pace of the match and provide more volume on target than the nine attempts Wales had. Insigne accounted for 25% of Italy’s attempts against Turkey and contributed on 33% of the club’s overall chances.

Ciro Immobile (DraftKings $9,300, FanDuel $23)

The goal-hunting option still remains with Ciro Immobile. Immobile scored against Turkey and attempted 29% of the shot volume for Italy. The impressive part for Immobile was his drop down and distribution to chances. This style of play boosts his floor, so that it is not solely reliant on a goal on one or two attempts. With the discount off Berardi and the unknown length of his knock run time, the choice for me is Insigne and Immobile, just like it was against Turkey. For salary relief in an Italy stack, Jorginho provides the floor with interceptions, won tackles and drawn fouls. At the sub-$5K asking price and with PK sets, he comes as an upside value play.

Aleksandr Golovin (DraftKings $8,200, FanDuel $18)

Russia needs a victory and comes in as the second-largest favorite against Finland. For reasons already known to the world, I am not buying Finland as a top defense that shut out a skilled Denmark club. Russia looked good for the most part against a Belgium club that is in a different tier of talent. The man that handles the sets for Russia is Aleksandr Golovin. Golovin was able to get off seven crosses with his club holding just 34% possession. They look to nearly double that time against a Finland side they have a history of beating up on.

On the wing, Golovin is not a force on the shot attempts. His floor can still get him to over 2x value with double-digit crossing volume and the drawn fouls so long as his teammates can connect on his setups. The asking price comes in too low here and he is a core play in all formats on DraftKings and FanDuel.

The striker upfront, Artem Dzyuba had a poor performance against Belgium. I am willing to overlook that, given the match up, and for a striker that consistently posts 2.94 and 3.04 shots per match for his club Zenit across two years consistently. He is also a top scorer at the club level, averaging a goal every two matches in that same run of form. In his last 14 matches for Russia, he has posted 11 goals. Dzyuba needs goals as his DFS production is volatile, but the match up makes him a top GPP goal-hunting option.

Cengiz Under (DraftKings $7,300, FanDuel $10)

The toss-up match of this three-game slate is Wales vs. Turkey. Here we can search for value one-offs or leverage stacks. Turkey looks to push offense and Wales likes to absorb and hit on the counter. The floor play that will garner ownership is Hakan Calhanoglu. The asking price is not an issue for Calhanoglu at below $9K, but it does put pressure on the Italy stack. He is fine for cash games, but there is leverage in a GPP fade.

Cengiz Under offers an over $1K discount and is an active winger. He made a brief appearance in the first outing and is expected to start. The interesting note is Under took two corner kicks when he came in and Calhanoglu was still in the match. I would not read too much into this, but it does offer some upside on the corner sets from his side of the pitch with added volume and assisted chances. In the open play, Under is explosive and can provide open play deliveries and attempted shots on a Wales side that generally sit back in the start of matches.

Daniel James (DraftKings $6,400, FanDuel $14)

Daniel James is still too cheap form the Wales side of this match. His speed opens up the match and he can cross the ball in form open play and draw fouls. If he was more willing to fire at the net, he would make a top value option on FanDuel at $14 on the ask. On DraftKings, his metrics offer a floor at around 1.5x value. On FanDuel Gareth Bale comes to mind with shot volumes and pinpoint accuracy. Bale needs to take on more attempts for Wales to not see an early exit and he comes in at a slight uptick on the ask to $17.

Other Options: Xherdan Shaqiri (DraftKings $7,700, FanDuel $15), Breel Embolo (DraftKings $7,500, FanDuel $18), Kieffer Moore (DraftKings $6,900, FanDuel $19), Robin Lod (DraftKings $5,300, FanDuel $7).

Euro DFS Picks: Defender

Mario Fernandes (DraftKings $5,400, FanDuel $8)

Mario Fernandes comes in still too cheap on the ask. He is an active winger who attacks the corner sets. He missed a point blank-attempt and the attempt volume will increase in this match up. For Russia, he is averaging 1.73 attempts at the net per match. He averages 2.31 won tackles and interceptions for club and country, which will be more attainable against a lesser quality Finland side. Fernandes will also see an increase in open play crosses with scoring chances created as the upside.

Other Options: Leonardo Spinazzola (DraftKings $6,200, FanDuel $11), Leonardo Spinazzola (DraftKings $6,200, FanDuel $11), Ricardo Rodriguez (DraftKings $5,800, FanDuel $13), Kevin Mbabu (DraftKings $4,800, FanDuel $12).

Top Goalkeepers

Gianluigi Donnrumma (DraftKings $5,600, FanDuel $13)

Danny Ward (DraftKings $4,500, FanDuel $9)
