EPL DFS Picks DraftKings + FanDuel Breakdown | Oct. 31
These are listed in order of what I believe are the top plays, including median projection, floor and upside. FanDuel Includes the Manchester City – Sheffield United match on their main slate, DraftKings does not.
EPL DFS Picks: Forward/Midfield
Mohamed Salah (DraftKings $10,500 FanDuel $22)
Sadio Mane (DraftKings $10,300 FanDuel $21)
We have a short EPL slate this Saturday, and all the attention will be on Liverpool’s attack. Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are no doubt the top options. They have a plus matchup against a West Ham side that allows the fourth-best expected goals against in the EPL. The other favored team, Chelsea, sees a Burnley team that is allowing the fewest expected goals. Liverpool’s offense ranks first in the EPL in expected goals against, and they have scored two or more goals in eight of their last 10 matches across all competition.
Salah is second in the EPL in shot volume, with an on target accuracy clip of 42.3%. He is third in scoring and always brings brace upside to any match. Mane is sixth in shot volume with on-target accuracy of 45%. The two complement each other with assisted shots. I think there is a case to be made for playing one and not the other, however. If you pair them, you are really digging at the bottom for multiple punt options. Keep in mind that Liverpool is playing a currently in-form defensive team, so if West Ham can hold them to three or fewer goals, one or the other might not pay off the price. There are other options I like mixing and matching with these two, namely Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota, plus some wingbacks we will get to.
Sebastian Haller (DraftKings $5,200 FanDuel $14)
Liverpool’s offense is on top of their game, but their defense is not so sharp given the absence of a key component in Virgil Van Dyke. Liverpool is the fourth-worst defense in the EPL. With the absence of Mikhail Antonio, we should see a lot of Sebastian Haller. Haller has been limited in his minutes, but the Frenchmen is full of potential.
Last season he averaged 2.29 shots per start and scored a few goals. If you go back to his time with Eintracht Frankfurt, he contributed in 29% and 40% of the club’s scoring in consecutive seasons. He also started multiple games fewer than his teammates through his term. He is not shy to shoot, but he also creates at over two chances a game and can draw fouls. The price tag is favorable, and he could go overlooked with the attack of Chelsea and Liverpool on the board.
Dwight McNeil (DraftKings $7,400 FanDuel $11)
Dwight McNeil can produce regardless of if Burnley gets on the scoreboard. He goes against a Chelsea squad with a mid-tier defense. Chelsea has looked better defensively with the keeper change, which has dropped the expected goals against to 0.53 per game in their last three games. McNeil offer a floor as a one-off option that comes discounted for his averages of 8.2 crosses, 1.8 drawn fouls and 1.6 interceptions/tackles won.
Raheem Sterling (FanDuel $19)
FanDuel’s main slate includes the Manchester City – Sheffield United match. Raheem Sterling comes too cheap for me as always. I expect him to be passed up given his low total of two goals in the EPL this season. He is playing better than that, and across all competitions for Manchester City Sterling has contributed on 42% of the club’s scoring. He is averaging 2.33 shots per game and finding the target with 72.33% accuracy.
Other Options: Jarrod Bowen (DraftKings $7,100, FanDuel $15), Timo Werner (DraftKings $8,600, FanDuel $21), Hakim Ziyech (DraftKings $9,400, FanDuel $15), Diogo Jota (DraftKings $6,300, FanDuel $17), Roberto Firmino (DraftKings $6,400, FanDuel $16), Rhian Brewster (FanDuel $12), Kevin De Bruyne (FanDuel $17).
EPL DFS Picks: Defender
Aaron Creswell (DraftKings $5,300 FanDuel $14)
Aaron Creswell has been very active on the year for West Ham, pushing up the wing and getting involved in the offense. He averages 6.33 crosses and 2.16 assisted shots. He could end up being a solid leverage play given the higher price tag, and many will find the extra money to pay up for the Liverpool and Chelsea wingbacks.
Andrew Robertson (DraftKings $6,800 FanDuel $14)
Andrew Robertson comes in as the highest-priced wing back. The floor is certainly there with an average of 9.5 crosses and 1.66 assisted shots. I have no preference between him and Trent Alexander-Arnold. I will have a mix of both, and unlike the splitting of Mane and Salah, pairing them in lineups together makes sense. They split set corners, and both are involved in the offense with Liverpool spreading the ball across the pitch with frequency.
Other Options: Ben Chilwell (DraftKings $6,700, FanDuel $15), Charlie Taylor (DraftKings $4,500, FanDuel $9), Reece James (DraftKings $6,100, FanDuel $11), Matthew Lowton (DraftKings $3,000, FanDuel $13)
Edouard Mendy (DraftKings $5,600 FanDuel $11)
Nick Pope (DraftKings $4,000 FanDuel $7)
