Real Madrid (+105) vs. Atalanta (+230) | Total: 2.5 goals

UCL DFS Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Lineups | March 16

These are listed in order of what I believe are the top plays, including median projection, floor and upside.

UCL DFS Picks: Forwards/Midfielders

Kevin De Bruyne (DraftKings: $10,000, FanDuel: $23)

Raheem Sterling (DraftKings: $8,300, FanDuel: $20)

Manchester City took the first leg against Borussia Monchegladbach, leaving the visitors no choice but to push the attack forward. The counter from Manchester City looks to be in full effect, with Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez to benefit from open play. They will come in fresh off a mid-week rest and are catalysts in the host’s EPL-leading 2.13 goals per match and 1.94 expected. Sterling and Mahrez are tied for second on the club with nine goals each, and sit second and third overall with over 2.18 shots per match a piece.

The shot-volume leader is none other than Kevin De Bruyne. He averages over three shots per match and is first overall in the league with 6.23 scoring chances created per match. De Bruyne sits in the top-5 of the EPL in overall crossing volume (6.98/ match), making him a core option on this slate. His upside lies in goal contribution, with brace upside never out of the question. A GPP option at sub 8K is the club’s leading goal scorer, Ilkay Gundogan. Gundogan has not slowed down on the offensive contribution, even with De Bruyne back in the lineup. Gundogan is a GPP option, because the consumption of set-piece shares consumed by De Bruyne and Mahrez. If one or the other sits out, he gets a bump up to a core play given the scoring exposure and discounted ask.

Toni Kroos (DraftKings: $7,800, FanDuel: $17)

Real Madrid hold the upper hand going into the second leg. Unlike Manchester City, Madrid face a more imposing offensive attack form their visitors. Atalanta ranks second in Serie A in goals at 2.33 per match over their expected 1.91. Madrid will not sit back, and Toni Kroos will look to deliver some insurance chances form set-pieces. He is a core option with a floor-build on 6.55 crosses per match and 4.65 scoring chances created.

Madrid will welcome back Karim Benzema, who leads the club in overall scoring. He averages 3.87 shots per match and hits the target at a 40% accuracy clip. On the wings, discounted GPP options are Vinicius Junior and Marcos Asencio, who sit behind Benzema with 1.68 shots per match a piece.  Considering upside and salary relief, a core option is Federico Valverde. He comes in at under 4K on the ask and will fill in for the suspended Casemiro. Valverde averages 1.6 shots per match and 3.09 scoring chances.

The visitors will look to Duvan Zapata and Luis Muriel for answers. They rank in the top-2 on the club in overall scoring, while accounting for 43.5% of Atalanta’s overall scoring. Muriel leads the club with 5.05 shots per match and Zapata trails with 3.28. Muriel should handle the set shares, with Ruslan Marinovsky and Joseph Illicic both expected out.

Other Options: Luka Modric (DraftKings $6,100, FanDuel $13), Sergio Aguero (DraftKings $7,500, FanDuel $18), Lars Stindl (DraftKings $5,700, FanDuel $13).

UCL DFS Picks: Defender

Robin Gosens (DraftKings: $5,200, FanDuel: $12)

Sergio Ramos (DraftKings: $4,000, FanDuel: $15)

The poor performance form Atalanta in the first leg was largely due to playing a man-down. Robin Gosens plays as a winger for the Italian side and finds ways to contribute on the offense. He averages 1.8 shots per-match with 40% on target accuracy. Gosens’ floor is built off a mix of open-play crosses (2.23/ match), and interceptions and won-tackles (3.74/ match). He comes in as a GPP one-off or part of an Atalanta stack.

Madrid captain Sergio Ramos is expected to return and comes in notably cheap, considering his shot volume and headed attacks on the corner sets. He also handles the PK duties for the hosts. Ramos averages 2.54 won tackles and interceptions per match. On the downside, he comes with risk of fouling and is no stranger to card accumulation.

Other Options: Olkesandr Zinchenko  (DraftKings $4,900, FanDuel $8), Oscar Wendt (DraftKings $2,900, FanDuel $8), Ferland Mendy (DraftKings $4,600, FanDuel $12).

UCL DFS Picks: Goalkeeper

Thibault Courtois (DraftKings $5,200, FanDuel $11)

Ederson (DraftKings $5,900, FanDuel $13)
