Tristan's Top Plays of group stage action on matchday 6, including Memphis Depay and Olympique Lyon in what looks to be a must win match.

Welcome to UCL DFS for Matchday 6! The UEFA Champions League group stage is coming to an end with a six-match slate this Tuesday. Here you’ll find our top plays, all things considered, including Memphis Depay. The players who have price-considered floor/ceiling on DraftKings are especially highlighted. FanDuel specific strategy is below the DraftKings breakdown. We have soccer content each and every week here at Awesemo, so stay up to date on it all by following @Awesemo_Com and @tristanhoh on Twitter!

(In order of what I believe are the top players per dollar; including median projection, floor, and upside.)

Willian ($9,300) – If Mason Mount misses, it’s tough to overlook Willian, who’d have a near full set piece share with Christian Pulisic ($8,200) plausibly chipping in some. Obviously, the upside is high with both players. Tammy Abraham ($8,900) has the highest odds to score for Chelsea, and should be treated as such in your lineups despite not bringing the same floor as Willian. All three are great options.

Memphis Depay ($10,200) – Depay has scored a goal in each Champions League start. Over his past five in all competitions, he’s amassed six goals with an assist, averaging an insane 17.08 floor points over that span. In a match Lyon must win, we can expect a similar floor. Bertrand Traore would likely hurt his floor (taking Depay’s set piece share from a monopoly to a partial share), but Depay is a very strong option regardless.

Marco Reus ($7,400) – Dortmund’s leader with 0.52 xG (expected goals per match). He has a notoriously low floor, but can absolutely project a few shots for Reus at home in a must win scenario. That comes with an elite ceiling. Both he and Thorgan Hazard ($6,400) feel too cheap in this spot. Hazard is their main set piece taker who also has a 0.50 xG+xA (expected goals+expected assists per match).

Emil Forsberg ($7,200) – He’d be more appealing if Christopher Nkunku sits, but either way, Forsberg is a pretty solid option, who’s got a respectable 0.57 xG+xA per 90 this season. If Nkunku plays, he falls down the list a bit though.

Dusan Tadic ($8,800) – Highest goal scoring odds on Ajax in what could be a shootout. Ranks below most of the high priced players, but deserves tournament consideration with his massive ceiling.

Timo Werner ($8,400) – Insane shot volume of late with 38 shots in his last seven starts. Leipzig don’t need to win, but shouldn’t stray away from their attacking playing style. Werner is their most likely goal scorer.

Lautaro Martinez ($9,100) – Must win for Inter Milan. Martinez is booming in the Champions League as evidenced by his 30-point outburst in GW5. Romelu Lukaku ($8,700) is there right beside him in the GPP mix.

(In order of what I believe are the top players per dollar; including median projection, floor, and upside.)

Hakim Ziyech ($9,900) – 17 and 25 floor points in his last two matches sans Quincy Promes in Eredivisie play. Ajax must win or draw, which could force Ziyech into amassing another crazily high floor. Good chance of goal involvement when Ajax score.

Jadon Sancho ($6,900) – Great spot for Dortmund and an unquestioned low price for Sancho. All of Dortmund’s attackers carry a low floor with high upside. Sancho in particular has seven goals and seven assists so far this season through 12 matches. In a must win, he could flash his upside once again.

Christopher Nkunku ($5,800) – When he’s in, he’s taking set pieces. We aren’t sure whether he’ll start, but if he gets the nod, sub-$6,000 is more than fair for a player who gets involved heavily in a high-flying attack.

Noa Lang ($4,000) – Getting a little thin, but at $4,000, he’ll still project as a fairly strong value on a slate where we’ll need studs. Concessions have to be made somewhere. He’s gotten a few spot starts sans Promes over the past few weeks, even netting a hat trick en route to a 5-2 Ajax win. Valencia are a much tougher opponent though. The floor is low; we’re mainly relying on a few shots or key passes with an off chance at a goal.

Dani Parejo ($8,000) – Strong floor but plays as a central midfielder which hurts the potential ceiling. Valencia see this as a must win. As the captain who takes all of their set pieces, Parejo shouldn’t struggle to accumulate fantasy points.

*Don’t be afraid to punt defender. While I like a few of these fullbacks quite a bit, my early builds are looking bleak to fitting two strong defenders. I may need to make a concession and fully punt with a CB in some of my builds, which I think is OK on a slate like this.*

Cristiano Biraghi* if starting ($4,500)

Douglas Santos ($5,400)

Fernando Marcal ($3,900)

Achraf Hakimi/Raphael Guerreiro ($6,000/$5,000)

Reece James/Cesar Azpilicueta ($5,700/$4,400)

Alejandro Grimaldo ($5,500)

(In order of what I believe are the top players per dollar; including median projection, floor, and upside.)

Neto ($4,000)

Kepa ($5,900)

Odysseas Vlachadimos ($5,100)

FanDuel Strategy

As you probably know by now, there are strong plays everywhere this Tuesday. The Dortmund trio of Reus, Hazard and Sancho are too cheap on both sites. Willian and Pulisic are too cheap while Abraham is priced fairly for his goal equity. Set piece studs Depay and Ziyech are stronger on DraftKings the way the scoring sets up, but can just as easily be played on FanDuel.

The optimal construction probably consists of two to three M/F from Dortmund and Chelsea—maybe even all four spots. I do, however, like getting exposure to a different game/team. With goals weighed so heavy on this site, there’s really no need to stray from the teams in great spots and/or the stud players.

At defender, there are a plethora of center backs on dogs who should accumulate stats on FanDuel’s sorry scoring system. There are a few defenders sub-$10 against Chelsea and Dortmund. Fire them up as such. If looking for upside, Hakimi and Guerreiro fit the bill best.

Goalkeeper is easy given FanDuel’s egregious mispricings. Kepa is the largest favorite on the slate at -500, yet is the sixth-highest price. Clean sheets are worth a whole 17 points on this site, so Kepa is the clear alpha play.
