Tennis DFS Picks Today: Miami Open Round 2 DraftKings Fantasy Tennis Picks | Casper Ruud 3/25/22

Tennis DFS Picks & Expert Predictions Today for Miami Open 3/25/22

We’re onto day 4 in Miami with more second round action with 21 matches in total. Today’s slate isn’t quite as packed with big gpp’s like it was yesterday on DraftKings but we still get a nice main tournament with $10,000 to first. There have been some absolute monster tennis dfs scores over the last few days as some players have really shown up with multiple hitting over 85 fantasy points. Hopefully today’s more of the same and hopefully they show up below and in our tennis lineups for Friday’s slate. It will certainly be entertaining so let’s make some picks.

DraftKings Fantasy Tennis DFS Picks Today

Low-Owned Tennis Pick Today: Casper Ruud ($10,500)

Opponent: Henri Laaksonen

This slate has some interesting pricing with the two servebots up top with three other top 10 players in the world priced above and below them and still lesser owned. Casper Ruud is one of those players here facing Henri Laaksonen for the fifth time in his young career. Ruud has enjoyed their past meetings winning three of four including two on hard courts which isn’t his preferred surface but one he’s advanced greatly on after going 16-6 last year. Laaksonen (world no. 89) is a very average player with no strong aspects to his game. Ruud should be able to counteract anything the Swiss player can throw at him very easily and advance to the third round here.

Going up to the top of the salary chain isn’t often optimal in tennis because they max out around 9x but as the best player with the easiest matchup amongst anyone in that range he makes for a nice leverage play as the third highest-owned.

Fade Pick: Reilly Opelka ($10,200)

Opponent: Francisco Cerundolo

On any slate with hard court tournaments and any American servebot on it you can expect high ownership. As one of the priciest players on the slate this looks like an easy decision to fade or go way under on Reilly Opelka. There is also a more beneficial stylistic matchup for the cheaper John Isner facing the shorter Hugo Gaston on the same courts in Miami while Opelka takes on Francisco Cerundolo. Along with a more prohibitive price tag and worse matchup there is also some concern with Opelka’s health as the typical servebot has only 29 aces in his last three matches combined which is a drastic drop from his 21% ace mark on the year.

Opelka and Isner are always strong cash plays with their floors but much more preferable when they are priced in the $8000’s and not above and beyond $10,000. As the two highest owned players on the slate if nothing else dropping down to Isner gains you some leverage as well as an equal ceiling.

Top Tennis Pick Today: Thanasi Kokkinakis ($7,300)

Opponent: Diego Schwartzman

Thanasi Kokkinakis gets a very plus matchup going up against the much dominative Diego Schwartzman in Miami at a great price tag with some great upside. Kokkinakis is one of just five players projected for double digit aces on the slate and comes off an easy victory in his first round match which saw him put up near 80 tennis dfs points. Kokkinakis has finally seemed to resurrect a career that looked like it may be going away with multiple injuries but with 13 wins in 17 matches he’s looked strong in 2022 and should be able to move on here. Schwartzman is very well-known for his prowess on the red dirt but on hard courts with the much higher bounce he struggles much more winning just 55% of matches and a large dip in first serve numbers.

Kokkinakis is actually projected for a touch higher ownership on the slate but still comes in at just around 15%. Getting over on that number couldn’t be easier and all things considered is much lower than the typical highest priced dog on most tennis dfs slates.
