Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em: Expect a Big Week for Diontae Johnson in Week 2

Looking towards Week 2 of the NFL fantasy football season, we will look into all of the matchups and discern the positive or negative impact that a given matchup will have on the wide receivers. Below is the best fantasy football start ’em sit ’em advice for the Week 2 NFL matchups.

Week 2 Fantasy Football Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em: Wide Receivers

Must Start: Diontae Johnson – Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Las Vegas Raiders

Johnson was a key part of the Steelers’ victory against the Bills on Sunday. Despite getting banged up early in the game, he returned strongly, catching five passes on 10 targets for 36 yards and a touchdown. That matchup proved to be tough for the entire Steelers offense, but this week they get the Raiders on a short week. Sammy Watkins had a strong game against Las Vegas, so it would not be shocking if Johnson was a top-12 receiver this week.

Must Start: Deebo Samuel – San Francisco 49ers at Philadelphia Eagles

With Brandon Aiyuk in the doghouse for the 49ers, Samuel is the clear No. 1 option on the team. The Eagles defense looked strong against the Falcons on Sunday, but the Falcons offense is bad. If Aiyuk maintains a low snap count and target share, Samuel should be an easy smash play this week. Samuel caught nine passes for 189 yards and a touchdown against the Lions. While regression is certain, he has top-12 upside this week.

Must Start: Jaylen Waddle – Miami Dolphins vs. Buffalo Bills

Waddle looked excellent in his rookie debut against the Patriots, with 61 yards and a touchdown on four receptions. All of that production came against a stout Patriots defense in a low-scoring game. This week Will Fuller returns from his suspension, which could alter the pecking order of the receiving room. However, Waddle should still be in lineups this week in what projects to be a back-and-forth game in Miami.

Must Sit: Brandon Aiyuk – San Francisco 49ers at Philadelphia Eagles

Though the 49ers dropped 41 points on the Lions defense, Aiyuk was not a part of this demolition; he did not see a single target all game. Fantasy players should worry but not panic or cut Aiyuk. The struggle to grace the field will not be prevalent all season. It is more likely that the hamstring injury was a bigger deal than reported.

Must Sit: Marquez Callaway – New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers

Callaway went screaming up the fantasy football draft boards in August following the Michael Thomas injury. But last week against the Packers he only had one reception on two targets for 14 yards. The best thing to do is sit him down this week. However, a higher passing uptick against the Panthers could see him be a more vital part of the New Orleans offense.

Must Sit: Tyler Boyd – Cincinnati Bengals at Chicago Bears

Boyd was expected to be the main benefactor of Ja’Marr Chase’s drop issues, but Chase had five receptions on seven targets for 101 yards and a touchdown in Week 1. This left Boyd with just three receptions on four targets for 32 yards. If Chase is able to maintain this large target share, then it is likely that Boyd will be tough to start weekly — especially this week against a strong Chicago defense.
